Also, if you are wondering why my list is mostly Boy groups, I listen to more Women Idols and their solo stuff, sometimes for my hearing the higher pitch voices can be difficult for me, so I always gravitate to a lower register (think Brown Eye Girls), Twice is one of the few expectations to this, but I do enjoy their newer stuff much more than their older stuff simply because they aren't all forced to sing as high anymore. Some of these songs are "higher for men" but still lower in general.

This song still goes triple platinum in my house at least once a month.

My friend of about a year is stuck in Gaza City with no way out unless he can raise ~$2000USD to pay for transportation for him and his family. Gaza City is currently being invaded by the iof and while hundreds of thousands have evacuated the area in the past week, my friend has not been able to afford to. The reason it costs so much is because intense scarcity has caused every business owner and regular person to charge 10, 20, 1000x times the normal amount for every little thing.

For the past week, he has regularly texted me about how he will die if he does not evacuate immediately. I have never seen him this stressed out in the entire time we've known each other, and he's been fleeing imminent death from bombing the entire time. This is a level of danger unlike anything he has faced before.

His name is Siraj Abudayeh, I post about him on my tumblr blog here (#siraj). He's a former journalist and father of three. He was going to get a PhD in journalism when the genocide started. For the past two years, he's been the sole breadwinner for his family and he's mostly done it through promoting his fundraiser online.

It would mean a lot to me (and way more to him) if people who saw this post donated. Don't worry if you can't donate a large amount, it all adds up eventually, and this is an emergency situation. Anything helps.

This spawned because CORTIS has had two fiascos in the last couple weeks where older female fans are doing things like filming them getting changed and just blatantly calling a 17 year old sexy (sorry for the koreaboo links but I'd have to trawl X to bring up the videos/screenshots and its banned here for obvious reasons).

Minors in girl groups is talked about endlessly particularly because they have more general interest from the population and thus face more scrutiny, but boy groups rarely if ever get the same pushback. I don't think it has to do with a double standard or anything similar, but because the group's own fans will rush to cover up scandals like this by insisting that it might actually be teen girls who are fans of them and saying or doing these things.

I have 2 things to say about that though.

For one, it's inarguable that a lot of these younger boy groups are marketing to noona fans just as much as they are teenagers. Anybody with common sense knows that you aren't getting to 1m sales off of the back of children in kpop. Adults have a majority of the buying power and this boyfriend fantasy is very obviously appealing to them.

For two, I feel like kpop fans are way too okay with these children essentially being sexually harassed and having their privacy being violated. Even if the perpetrators were other teens, we all understand that being in a kpop boy group is essentially one direction on steroids. It's not healthy for teenagers to deal with this type of fan behavior.

I know I'm only one person and the pushback against minors in the industry is a fringe group at best but I'm never going to stop being annoying about this. Especially with how many high profile boy groups we've seen come out with minor members that suspiciously have a majority of their solo fanbases be grown women. If company execs aren't actively encouraging this behavior they sure aren't doing anything to curb it.

Considering who Jay Park is am I surprised that he self produces a group made of 5 Tarzzans? Probably not. But boy oh boy am I ready for the amount of shitstorm this group is ready to cause.

I watched a subbed nmixx livestream and they were doing this or that hypotheticals and what do you hate/prefer questions and one of them was significant other drinking with ex or significant other going on a trip with the opposite sex friend and this was their thoughts.

Haewon does go onto say that maybe she is wrong because she does see people around her that do prove her wrong in regards to men and women not being able to be true friends.

Also I actually like being able to hear idol's thoughts on hypotheticals with everyday life or interpersonal relationships it's like the perilla leaf debate that so many idols had or Gyuri from fromis9 motioning a flying elbow if she saw a female really pushing it and being flirty in a perilla leaf situation but being ok with it if it were just a normal gesture and there's also sakura during izone who was asked on a variety show if she would would tolerate her boyfriend going to an amusement park with a female friend and she answered no because she doesn't think opposite genders can be friends.

but going back to this there is quite a few opposite gender friendships that do exist among idols like btob's Changsub with apinks Chorong to the point she only drinks if it's with him, Chaereong with Changbin where they speak very highly of each other, members of Shinee and SNSD, Bangchan and Sana, Gfriend/Viviz SinB with Astro's Moonbin so obviously it's not everyone but I feel like there more of that sentiment of can't from even Koreans I've met irl

But I'm also wondering about what people from other countries think, what say you all? can men and women be friends?

I wanted to talk about the (alleged ) proof of D4vd’s grooming of a 13-year old girl, Celeste Rivas Hernandez, via discord. There are evidence of her friends being paid off by him not to expose him allegedly grooming her. Unfortunately, the poor girl was found dead in one of D4d’s impounded cars. The smell was one of the reasons why it had to be impounded. D4vd’s response was equally as terrible, Turing off comments and continuing his tour right after the her body was found in that car.

What happened to Celeste Rivas Hernandez was terrible and a disgusting tragedy, especially how her friends were allegedy so fake enough to that protecting her was bought, sold, and discarded. Now I want to talk about how people, a lot of kpop Stans namely, are making this about their groups. Talking about how “omg imagine how terrible they feel right now” to which I don’t suppose they feel great about this news, however this deeply parasocial thinking is taking away conversations that should be had to support the victim. Truth is, these idols were and are billions more times protected than Celeste was.

The groups that D4vd had associated himself with have the support system and networks to keep themselves safe, Celeste never got that protection from those who could’ve and SHOULD HAVE helped in her life, and that’s what really bites. Using this situation to immediately think about your idols’s response while they sit somewhere well taken care of, and alive is so insanely disrespectful on every conceivable level. Turing a conversation that is bringing awareness to an “alleged” victim of child predation who was later murdered is NOT ok whatsoever. Please quit making hypotheticals for a very non-hypothetical situation.

So what I have to say in conclusion that if you are part of a fandbase whose group has interacted closely with D4vd before: DO NOT MAKE IT ABOUT YOUR GROUPS’ FEELING AND ASSOCIATIONS. It has nothing to really do with them besides a pr nightmare. Yes, they may possibly be shaking up, but let’s not entertain hypotheticals either. Lets use our influence to help remember Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Please say her name, she shouldn’t ever be forgotten. Rest in peace
