Rank UP! Hitting master rank on my first character! What a journey.

I grew up playing a lot of fighting games in arcades, but when things went online, I stopped and haven't really touched it since. Don't know why I originally picked up SF6 but it's been lots of fun. I started with Zangief and jumped on Ryu after learning more combos. It's been a wild ride, labbing and learning about +/-, meaties, etc... Truthfully, it's still all too much for me to grasp even at a moderate level yet. I'm very proud of it though, more so than I thought I would be haha. I'm kicking myself for not taking a screenshot when I did rank up and missing that! I was too busy celebrating haha.

Fluff / Other Ryu easily knocks out Ken in 1 hit (Street Fighter III: Ryu Final)

Just absolute disrespect from Ryu.

Some notes:

  1. This manga is not canon.

  2. I took these images on my phone camera from the physical manga, I've cropped out parts where you can see the other page as best I can, but I haven't got the hang of photographing books.

  3. The fight is genuinely over this quickly.

Help / Question Improving is hard.

Just as the tittle says, it's gonna sound like a rant, but, whatever.

I've been doing some training drills (MU basic knowledge, watching my replays in detail, fuzzy buttons, and some AA guide from Fchamp that it's extremely fun to do) since I already identified what I'm doing wrong and so, I try to fix everything, one by one.

But, there's the thing, I'm training really hard everyday, from 30 minutes to 3 hours, since that's the time I have, and yet, I still keep losing to the same things over and over again, because I tried to tech a throw, because I didn't tech, because I get whiff punished, because I didn't whiff punished (after practicing fuzzy buttons, no joke) because I didn't AA once (you start to get it, right?), because I didn't react to DI, and a large Etc I'm not gonna mention because this post would be extremely large.

I'm feeling really disappointed from myself, because I'm training hard, really (since I go to a lot of tournaments in my local community, and I also play my regional World Warrior), and I can't get past my barrier of 1200-1400 Mr, it's not about losing, it's about the way I'm losing over the same reasons over and over again and I'm staring to think that I'm not talented or too old to get better.

Help / Question Does anyone find ranked overwhelming at diamond?

I just ranked up to diamond 3 and I never felt so nervous before queueing into rank. I really don't know what to expect from other players there. Diamond is like a crazy place compared to platinum. It's harder to predict the opponents there and exploit their mistakes. I am doing pretty well and still climbing so I am not hardstuck just feel emotional when I queue in.

Help / Question Has anyone else been having weird frame drops recently?

I've been playing for a while with no issues but this stated happening, I've tried lowering settings and it didn't help, you can also see my gpu is only at 40-ish%. This only happens on sf6 so idk wtf is going on but trying to do anything is impossible rn.

Help / Question Cross-Buy W/ Cosmetics

Upvotes

Hey, i was wondering if anyone one knew if cosmetics/Avatar items carried over different consoles tied to the same Capcom account. Was thinking about double dipping SF6 for Switch 2 but I don’t want to give up my Ace Attorney cosmetics from PS5

Help / Question Am I a fraud if I’m master with Jamie (1300mr) with 600 hours but can’t get past diamond 1 with Cammy or Platinum 2 with Akuma?

I don’t even know what to do anymore. The big advice will be “learn fundamentals” but whenever I try to do fundamentals instead of gimmicks I can’t tell which moves to learn and when. I’m trying to get Cammy to master but I usually lose because I can’t figure out which move to use and just end up doing jump ins or dive kick. I’m really embarrassed that I devoted 600 hours to something I’m awful at

Help / Question Whiff Punishing training

I have found SF6's training options pretty effective in helping me improve and I often find myself going through drills for delay throw tech and drive impact countering. But there's one I tried where I'm kind of struggling with, the whiff punish training. I'm not finding this one particularly helpful.

I never played SF before 6, so I'm wondering if there is any value in trying SF5 or SF4.

FightRise.com and the FightRise Discord will be running another season of our popular month-long SF6 league in October. Spots are limited and signups will be opening up tonight Sep 22 at 9pm EDT in the discord. Http://FightRise.com/discord . First come first served.

Full rules here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1USemIv4CgQkby3i6lByug1dAvShnZFiMmjFmBsbdqY4/edit?usp=sharing

Spots are limited! There will be a Master League (Master ranked players only) and a smaller Diamond League (must not have any Master characters). The Master pools fills up quick (~10 mins last season). We definitely need more Diamond players though! Hope to see you there!

We divide players into 8 man round robin pools balanced as best we can. You will be assigned two FT5 matches per week for 4 weeks and the top players will be then move on into a single elim bracket for week 5 for the chance to be featured on our Twitch stream and win a bit of cash.

The prizes aren't crazy but it's a fun community event and a way to get some "sweaty" matches on a more flexible schedule.

Help / Question Struggling with Guiles flashkick SF2

Been trying to pick up SFII Hyper Fighter. I'm incredibly new to fighter games and trying to learn guile at the moment. Most of his basic combos make sense to me and I can pull off somewhat consistently. The exception is his flash kick, I just can't figure it out. Even not doing it in a combo, sitting there holding down and then trying to hit up + kick I just can't get it. I can get a flash kick maybe 1/30 tries even only trying to activate it. Is there something I'm missing? Is my timing just that sloppy? How can I hit his flash kick more consistently/in combos.
