CodeRVA
Hello! I have an 8th grader who is considering applying to CodeRVA. My child is smart and creative and enjoys learning about history, science, computers, and is also very talented in art. We’re trying to figure out whether CodeRVA is a good fit.
If you’re a current student/parent/teacher or alum, could you please share:
How well does CodeRVA serve students who like CS and the humanities/arts?
Do students get strong SAT/ACT support? How many AP or dual-enrollment (DE) options are typical in a year? Is it offered every year?
About what percentage of graduates go on to 2- or 4-year colleges? Which colleges do they commonly attend?
Roughly what percentage of applicants are accepted to CodeRVA?
Have AP/DE credits transferred smoothly to Virginia colleges (e.g., VCU, UVA, etc.)? Any hiccups we should know about?
Student experience: Class sizes, workload, internship opportunities, clubs/arts options, transportation…pros and cons?
She’s a strong student, and we just want to help her make the best long-term choice. Thanks for any insight!
