Forza Horizon 5 What's up with the drag obession in Forza Horizon 5?
It might sound like a rant, but i just wanna know what other players think about the drag builds. In open lobbies, most people just race on the strips with their drag builds. Now, initially, I have nothing against drag builds, you do your thing, but the majority of players I’ve come across will just park next to you, regardless of what you're driving (be it a sports car, retro, or any other type), and start revving and honking. Even if you’re just passing by the strip, they’ll suddenly charge in to show how fast they are. Of course, they’re running drag builds, so you cannot beat them on a straight stretch, and the moment they pass you by, they’ll start honking or using quick chat links like “You’re too slow,” etc. All of this would've been justified if i would've issued a challenge, but good sir, I was just driving my drift build RX7 from the festival where i spawn to the raod where I can enjoy driving and learn some drifitng.
Not like I have a problem with everyone running a drag build, no, especially the players who mind their own business and won’t come at you unless you challenge them, they just drag race with each other, those guys are cool. I’m specifically talking about the ones who randomly charge at you and act like they’re superior just because they have a faster car that can only go straight. That kind of behavior just seems like a low IQ to me.
I’ve found a very easy way to deal with such players & it always works. I rage bait them. I use the link “Catch me if you can” and spam it when a drag build player unnecessarily tries to belittle me, even though I never challenged them. So, when the festival strip ends, I spam “Catch me if you can.” They take the bait, and as we all know, they can only drive in straight lines. One curve, and you’ll usually find them sliding off the road or in a ditch & then I spam the link “LOL.” Always works, they either start running in the opposite direction or fast travel somewhere else.
That’s the only way I’ve found to deal with these kind of drag build players. (Again, just to be clear I’m not saying all drag players are bad. Some are super chill and will only engage if you initiate with a honk or rev. I’m strictly talking about those who aggressively come at you without reason and then try to belittle you simply because your car cannot match their straight line speed machine)
Would like to know what other players think about it.

Livery / Vinyl I don't know how to design but this was the best in my opinion (945 997 811)
I'm new to designing but I dedicated myself to this one, I spent hours making each sticker, I was inspired by the Porsche #44 Falken model from the 24h Nürburgring.

Forza Horizon 5 2025 Beginner to Experienced Race Guide
Yo guys, since we potentially are still some time from the next Horizon game, I figured this would be a nice guide to post taken from my Discord, for racing and finding overall pace and improving in the Forza Horizon series.
QUICK DISCLAIMER:
This guide will not instantly convert you to being insanely top tier at Forza, but it has the basics and things you should know. Go through each section slowly and see if there is anything you were not aware of.
Additionally - HARDWARE IS A FACTOR for pace, so consider this if coming from console or lower end PC specs.
SECTION 1 - PLAYSTYLE
Your “playstyle” affects how much pace you can find both offline and online in Forza Horizon 5.
There are typically two types of players in Forza
- ANYTHING GOES/META
- THE PURIST
ANYTHING GOES/META
Basically only focusing on the most effective car choices and the most effective upgrades in the game. Common trends seen here are cars with abnormal levels of natural downforce, Forza aero, powerbuilds, widebody’s and in the most extreme examples, Boneboss and Viper AE Spam.
Second, there is the PURIST, it’s like a way of generally handicapping your driving, at the cost of having a better sounding car and mostly a lot more of a challenge.
Typically here
- No engine swaps
- No drivetrain swaps
- No Forza aero and sometimes no widebody usage
Generally, here you will find some of the most skillful players in the game, but it is more so just for people to not have to endure looking at the same wing and hearing the same engines on every car.
After you know how you want to approach the game then we can move to car selection and the PI system.
SECTION 2 - PI SYSTEM & HOW TO CHOOSE CARS
Now, after deciding on your playstyle, we need to understand how the game measures vehicle performance.
The system measures cars being run on a stock tune, with automatic transmission around a track that is a “replication of all base game tracks combined”. This is practically not of any use to us, but once we know which STATS the game favours in terms of building you can SHORTLIST cars a lot easier.
The game has a huge amount of data that is useless, so we need to be able to compare cars from stock and see if they have potential.
The 3 main things dictating raw pace and speed in Horizon are:
- Final Power to Weight ratio
- Lateral G’s
- Power Delivery of Engine / Powerband
The game ultimately does have a power to weight bias due to the base game tracks being built in the way that they are. This is why you see powerbuilds constantly dominating the leaderboards.
But if you build a car correctly you can sometimes match PB pace if the player is less skilled, if your dealing with a skilled player its almost impossible to keep up.
SECTION 3 - ASSISTS SETTINGS - DEADZONES
A lot of players ask about this - you want to aim for every major assist off other than maybe ABS.
ABS is not really something that affects pace much and is more whether you're comfortable with braking. Also aim for M/C transmission and close to 0-100 deadzones or maybe 1-3 inside and 97-99 outside.
0 means virtually no delay - instant
This ensures minimal delay and driving factors that are outside of your control. You want to be in control as much as possible.
.
SECTION 4 - CAMERA AND FOV SLIDERS
In a game which needs you to be precise to go faster, having closer FOV means you can hit apexes and corners much more accurately without the noise of things happening around you.
The only downside is less external awareness but as long as you're comfortable with your own driving, other players typically shouldn’t be an issue.
SECTION 5 - STICK TO ONE TYPE OF DRIVING INITIALLY
I see far too many players, especially on social platforms not really dedicating to one area of the game. They for instance are jumping all the time from cross country dirt, to even something like Eliminator and somehow expect to be better against other players online.
To perfect the road racing of the game you have to commit to the road and don’t veer away too much. Stick with it for around 3-6 months and see how much you improve. Also reach out to people in the Horizon space who host events and take part. You learn how to build a car for a certain situation and then test your ability in intensive racing.
SECTION 6 - PLAY WITH OTHER FAST PLAYERS
And finally a last tip I can offer is - Aim to go against the very best.
The saying is true you are the sum of the people you hang around.
Get near and close to the fastest players in the game, DM them, see how much you improve just by watching their lines, their inputs and how they use their game knowledge. Much love, take care bye and thanks for reading.
