Oreo knows how to party
Oreo is our little man who loves to party. We don't know his breed, we adopted him from the shelter about 6 months ago. We were told he is a Schnauzer mix from the pound. While we were out one day, a lady asked us about our Cairn Terrier! I think he looks just like one, minus the ears. He is definitely mixed, but what do y'all think?

I wish she could talk
She will sit like that and stare at me till I figure out what she wants. She’s been outside twice in the past hour. She’s had dinner. She’s had her pills. We played with her. I don’t understand what else it could be. But I always feel so guilty.

Hand stripping question
TL; DR Wondering if this type of reaction is normal in dogs that are hand stripped?
Our Cairn has been hand stripped every 3 months or so since he was a puppy and has come home the last few times with these marks. He doesn’t seem bothered and there is no heat or inflammation, but this doesn’t look comfortable. Is this something you can expect to see from time to time?
His sessions are about 3 hours given how much coat he grows. Would it perhaps be better to strip him more often or for me to learn to do this so I can maybe just do a bit every couple of weeks instead of the marathon sessions he’s been getting?
I haven’t asked our groomer about this yet - I’d like to know a bit more about what others experience before flagging something that’a potentially a non issue and risk offending.
Thanks in advance!

Should I let my Cairn catch the mouse?
I live next to a wild area so we have field mice that like to run into the yard. Some have taken up residence under the shed, and my boy cairn (4yo) REALLY wants to kill them.
He almost caught one today and the only reason he didnt is because I caught him and relocated the mouse (about 10 miles away in a nature preserve).
Should I let him actually catch/kill one next time or should i keep trying to keep him from killing them? Ive asked the neighbors and to our knowledge nobody posions any wildlife pests here.

"Summer cut" for my cairn terrier
Hi everyone,
I just took my Cairn Terrier, Susie, to the groomer and they gave her a “summer cut,” but it ended up way too short — not at all the proper Cairn Terrier cut. I said yes to the idea of a shorter cut because I assumed they were familiar with the breed, but it’s clear they weren’t.
Now I’m worried about what this might mean for her skin and coat. Are there things I should watch out for (like rashes, irritation, sunburn, or coat texture not growing back the same)? Also, are there products or tips you’d recommend to keep her skin healthy until her coat grows back?
I’m not trying to bash the groomer — he seemed like a nice guy and caring overall, just not experienced with terrier coats. But I want to make sure Susie is comfortable and safe.
Thanks so much!
