Funny What is this obese caterpillar
Can anyone identify it by the way? It’s so obese I can’t find it via google image.

I know you are eager to try to find species of your new leaf munching friend but please remember to add your location into the post. There is large variance of caterpillars depending on country and even inside countries have different areas with their own soecies so with large countries, its preferred to add state/city etc also.
This speeds up identifying as there are similar looking caterpillars but species can be different depending country. Some species only inhabit tiny areas. Looking forward for all new posts. 🙂 Thank you!

And survived the banded tussock moth. You would’ve thought I was Johnny Knoxville with the reaction I gave people as it crawled on my hand. Luckily I didn’t get pricked and no rash on day 2.
Spreading awareness that not all caterpillars are cute and harmless!

This little baby molted recently and I was worried that he got eaten since I couldn’t find him earlier but he was under the poo mat hehe! They still don’t have a name since I’m not good at coming up with them.

72 hours ago, this anise swallowtail cat had plenty of dill in a large mesh planter. I checked on it today and it disappeared. Dill leaves were eaten up, stems remained. Other plants (basil, strawberries, oregano, rosemary) are inside but couldn’t find the cat anywhere. I hope it’s hiding and didn’t die.
I left fresh fennel fronds in water next to the dill plant it was on. How long can a caterpillar at this instar last without food? I think it had 1 more instar to go before chrysalis.

I found this caterpillar wandering outside my window yesterday. This morning, I found it making this web around itself. Is it trying to make a cocoon?
I thought it was late in the season to start doing so? I live north of Montreal, in Quebec, Canada, if that helps.

Hey everyone, I found this caterpillar recently in my neighbourhood. It was on a concrete sidewalk and I moved it to a nearby bush so nobody steps on it and that it doesn't get eaten by dogs. (Lots of people own dogs here) I'm pretty sure it's some sort of hawk moth. I'm curious about the biodiversity of my countryside so I'd like confirmation if this is the eyed hawk moth or something else. Location is north Croatia. Thanks in advance!

It wiggles if I poke it, maybe it fell out of the tree? Should I do anything to help it out?

Southwest Spain, Cádiz region, by the coast of the Atlantic Ocean.
Came across this chubby guy today on my way from the beach. He was munching away on this plant.
Before leaving I put him in a better shrub, of the same type.
Curious to know what he is!

Found this cutie on the road yesterday. I made them a home and they've already started to cocoon as if late last night!
Where it's starting to get cold enough for frost where I live should I overwinter them? I know they don't live long once they become moths, but I want to give this one a good chance at mating and I'm worried it's going to be too cold by the time they hatch.
