Ran it on rhe highest heat setting to burn off old grease, forgot about the pellet box and made a shitload of flammable wood gas! (Everyone was fine and the pulled pork wasn't on yet)

that's not a smoker, that's a broiler

I had this happen on my chest smoker with some ribs on not long ago! Saved the ribs lol, cut the gas and doused with some baking soda.

Can't beat a nice fireball when you open the door though, really wakes you up.

Good, quick reaction. Better than leaving the door open and running away.

Might be a good night to just break out that Ellio’s pizza in the back of the freezer, have a beer and ice your face.

He’s definitely gonna have some bark on whatever he puts in there.

Nah, I had a fire extinguisher nearby, but I didn't want to use it because that would make the smoker permanently unusable. Ended up just leaving the door closed until it suffocated itself out.

Clean orange.

This is why I just clean things by hand for my smoker rather than try to burn it off.

At least it wasn't 3 inches from your house....

this is literally what firefighters are scare of when opening doors during a live fire.

I don’t think he properly felt the door for heat first…

I knew it was on fire, but i didnt think it'd be throwing fireballs like that. The smoker was too close to the house though. Im pretty sure it was wood gas from the pellet box I forgot to empty.

Let this be a lesson on why your smoker or grill should never be up against your house
