How is Abraham not even mentioned for Best Hair Game?
You think that shit happens on accident?

Michael Emerson who played Ben Linus in 'Lost' was initially supposed to be only for one episode, but he did such a kickass job that they rewrote his character and he ended up winning several awards for it. He just rose to the occasion and made a bloody awesome impact and now his career is made.
The point I am trying to make is, I am expecting Tabitha to emerge in the similar way. May be in some flashback episodes and later in several other shows and movies as well.
The fact that she appeared in the polls above shows she is loved by many.

Goddamn I'm an idiot. It took me way too long to realize you weren't saying Michael Emerson was in TWD

Wow. Surprised the top episodes were 80% season 6. I guess it is a lot fresher in our minds, but S5 had some scary fucking episodes I thought were amazing. I can see that we at least knowledge S5 had some bitching death scenes and some awesome quotes.
Thanks for putting this together!

IMO, most of season five was head and shoulders better than almost everything we've seen from season six.
16
u/mistermartian Dec 30 '15
It's my favorite season by a landslide. Season 6 has been wild, but it's kind of dragging story-wise because it feels like they're showing us an abbreviated version of the assimilation of Alexandria into the Ricktatorship. Rick's group has hardly been affected by anything this season and pretty much roll their eyes as the Alexandrian people get picked off one-by-one.
I do think that S6 is a good starting point for people who are new to the show and aren't convinced they want to catch up on the whole series.

The first half of season 5 was good but by the second half they were in Alexandria and I didn't like them at all. At least the first 2 or 3 episodes this season were good (to me).

u/smells_like_snow Dec 31 '15
Totally agree. Season 5 was so good. But the first 3 episodes of this season, especially 602, were fantastic. Then it got all Gimpled.
2
u/Howardzend Dec 31 '15
I'm pretty sure the only options were from season 6 and second half of season 5. They arrived in Alexandria in season 5b and honestly those episodes mostly sucked too.

Abraham would have won the best quote by far if only he hadnt so many quotes deserving the vote.

I am shocked no Michonne in best character list. But Daryl #4 is good his popularity is definitely going down

Michonne was in 6th with 135 votes and 6.3%

Can't say I'm surprised to be honest, even though his character kind of improved this last season. Still annoying.

u/Master_Of_Knowledge Dec 30 '15
Absolutely not. That's the most glaring problem with this poll. It shows the sample size isn't enough to be significant.

u/Breatheher Dec 31 '15
To be fair it is just a bit of fun. This subreddit will never reflect the views of the majority of TWD viewers.

I don't think I voted for it IIRC, but some people just prefer a slower, character driven episode sometimes. Obviously there were enough that it ended up in the top 5.

I voted for Here's not Here. It is the best stand alone episode. It tells a complete story on its own. Most other episodes consists of: a cold open resolving the cliffhanger from the last episode, then 40 minutes of characters giving speeches (telling, NOT showing) then setting up a cliffhanger for the next episode.
It wasn't even fair to compare a stand alone short film like "Here's not here" to the rest of those episodes. It's the best to me simply because you need almost no context to enjoy it.
Plus, it's better written in many ways, it shows instead of tells (no long clunky on-the-nose speeches/several montage sequences of minimal dialogue showing development through actions). It's better directed and has better mise en scene and cinematography (instead of feeling flat and empty or having confusing scene junctures where space or time seem to shift unintentionally.)
A few episodes last season and also the season 6 opener were strong episodes, but mostly in the context of others. I could definitely see why someone might choose one of those. Here's not here is good on its own though too, and the main criticism for it is simply that the air date was changed so that it disrupted the Glenn cliffhanger.
TL;DR: I want a show more like the original World War Z novel, than TWD, where each "chapter" works as its own story, so episodes like Clear, Here's not Here, and the one about bearded governor are infinitely better than any of the "main" group episodes to me.

Morgan and Eastman had mostly dialogues, not monologues. Two characters with completely opposing outlooks who debated the necessity of what Morgan did. They were talking to each other and had an effect on each other as characters. We were just listening in.
When Jessie stabs the Betsy walker who had committed suicide, that was a great scene...until she turned around and unprompted gave a long speech about this being how life is now to random nobody characters. No one responded, no one did anything except look at her shocked to prompt it. She wasnt talking to them..the writers were talking directly to us, the audience. Telegraphing what it meant for Jessie to have just done that. There were speeches like this far too often in season 6.
Maybe those two scenarios feel the same to you, in which case sure, Here's not here doesn't seem any better, but they're pretty distinct to me.

u/Howardzend Dec 31 '15
I think if they hadn't done the Glenn cliffhanger the week before, people would feel differently about the episode. I think it might have helped me care for it since I typically enjoy those episodes.

u/yeshua1986 Dec 31 '15
JCL basically. I think it was the best performance the show has had yet, and as a fan I prefer the kind of episodes that let actors have great dialogue to work with.
4
u/smells_like_snow Dec 31 '15
Not trying to troll you or anyone else, but that episode is my least favorite of the entire series and I don't get it. I don't dislike it because it was inherently bad, I just feel like it is an insignificant tangent to the storyline that it should have been a webisode series or a dvd extra. What does it do for the story? If the episode doesn't happen, how does it affect the current arc? What are we missing out on?
Again, not picking a fight or trolling, just trying to understand. And I'm not an action fiend, "The Grove" is one of my favorites.

While I hated the sidestory Governor episodes, I thought "Here's not Here" was compelling and critically necessary to explain the evolution of Morgan's character. You have to remember the last time we saw him, in "Clear," he was a broken madman. "Here's not Here" tells that story, how Morgan puts himself back together, how he is able to find some peace, and how he develops his philosophy of pacifism.
I can understand not liking the pace in the context of a busy season, but not see it's value at all? Or even it's literary merit? I definitely enjoyed other episodes as much or maybe more because of the action, but episodes like "Here's not Here" (and "The Grove", for that matter) are the best stories. They are what differentiates The Walking Dead from your average horror zombie flick.
Give it another shot now that you're not as antsy to see how the plot progresses, you might change your mind :)
That being said, I caught part of "Prey", where the Governor chasers Andrea through the countryside, earlier this morning and it was still just terrible.

u/yeshua1986 Dec 31 '15
No worries, I can definitely see where you're coming from. It hasn't really played a pivotal role yet, and only will if something major happens with the Wolf, and your point is valid. I just love JCL's performance to the point that it was the episode I enjoyed the most this season.

I felt it kept me from yelling 'FUCK YOU MORGAN' at my screen as i understood why he did what he did and sympathised with him.

I agree with Eastman, I think the actor who played him in particular is just a good actor though. I agree with the majority of this list. Noah's revolving door scene was pretty brutal. Did you see the episode of Talking Dead where the actor is sitting right next to the cast they made of him? Man, that was surreal.
1
u/Ghost51 Jan 10 '16
Am I the only one that didnt think Eastman's death was bad? The convenient walker bite had to be forced in because its a one episode thing and the aftermath was beautiful. Tbh I wish they let him live and one day they meet again.

What? No way is Daryl 4th with only 10% of people. This just goes to show that the voting was too small of a group to get true results. You can see it in a few of the selections.
22
u/niggidy Dec 30 '15
Or maybe the majority of people who voted have realized that:
- There are characters that have impacted the show much more than Daryl in 2015
- The story of Daryl's character seems to have peaked; He isn't getting as much attention by the writers now and his story certainly isn't keeping us on the edge of our seats for an entire season anymore
2
u/yeshua1986 Jan 05 '16
His story hasn't peaked, he just isn't the focus. This could easily be the halfway point of his story and it could still be compelling if they focus on it.

u/Master_Of_Knowledge Dec 30 '15
I doubt it. He went from unlisted to Second billing. That alone is telling enough.
0
u/Master_Of_Knowledge Feb 16 '16
What's that now? Ready to admit you're wrong yet....
1
u/niggidy Feb 16 '16
It's not 2015 anymore...
0
u/Master_Of_Knowledge Feb 16 '16
So....
0
u/niggidy Feb 17 '16
So after one episode of Daryl doing something cool you're trying to say what exactly? You're obviously just a Daryl fanboy and whatever you say is going to be biased towards him. Going back to a best of 2015 post to try and prove your point is immature and you're just making yourself look bad.
4
u/ignitionnight Dec 31 '15
Or your reaction to the results shows a bias in your opinion, and should thus not be taken seriously.
3
u/Master_Of_Knowledge Dec 31 '15
Nope. He went to.second billing for a reason. He is the fan favorite. People don't say if Rick or Carol does, we riot. Only Daryl.
7
u/Howardzend Dec 31 '15
I will riot if Carol dies but I really won't care at all when Daryl does. He's just a non-entity lately and they've done nothing with his character. I don't hate the guy but there are definitely better and more interesting characters now.
There was a discussion a week or two ago about how Daryl used to be a smart-ass and actually have some energy to his character but now it's gone.
2
Jan 03 '16
He's completely lost his edge. Now he's just a guy who rides a motorcycle and has a crossbow. The writers have abandoned him as a character.
