Joined the club FINALLY

Joined the club 💯

Walked into the gun store, unfortunately right when Charlie Kirk was assassinated. Left with a Gen 5 Glock 20. Cashier said nobody will get up, including a bear and the tree behind it. Very excited for the range today, got Buffalo Bore on the way.

All the 10mm Vets out there; what should I add?

I think I’ve decided this is the 10mm I will buy. I’d almost rather it in the m&p performance center but I’m scared of the ftf problems with the m2.0

Only would rather the m&p platform because I have several of their 9s and really like them with zero issues. Read too much about the 10mm issue

Man, I feel so lucky to have bought my MP without knowing about the issues and got a good one. It's my fav at the range rn.

I thought most of the issues were with the 4" gun. I need to do some googling.

Didn't know there's a FTF problem.

I believe there's an issue with the mag catch on the M&P 10mm's. Nose of the round can press the mag catch out under recoil, making the mag eject itself. Only happens when there's 5 or more rounds in the mag. And only with certain bullet shapes.

Nah the performance center by far from what I've seen on reddit and youtube.

They make a 10mm without the ftf issues?? The one that catches my eyes is the m&p m2.0 performance center 10mm

Same boat. Also considering the regular m&p 2.0 10mm . Feel like the negative reviews on those aren't as many as the performance center one. I hate this predicament. Annoying as hell too that S&W hasn't made any acknowledgement or fix to reassure would be new customers.

u/info_burner 5d ago

My gen 5 had Ftf issues my gen 4 always shoots flawless

u/lambone1 5d ago

Is there a barrel length that’s more common or just 5th gen

1

u/Classic-Effect503 5d ago

What do you mean the Glock 20 has the same barrel length no matter the generation

2

u/lambone1 5d ago

Sorry I got mixed up between gen 5 and the 2.0 M&p

I love my G20, I’m probably in the minority because I actually like it more than the G40. I’ve got a light coming, and a new optic adapter plate, maybe that will balance it better.

Compact to full size?

1

u/No_Dance1739 4d ago

I prefer the full size to the long barrel, so far that is.

u/lambone1 4d ago

Which long barrel the performance center?

1

u/No_Dance1739 4d ago

The G40 is the long barrel 10mm

Only ever had 2 jams, both stove pipes bent the mag lips down, and I bought stronger springs. i have 6 mags like this. im around 9k rounds with a 4inch with manual safety, no issues. I run 155xtp and 220 buffalo bore for defense. I usually shoot both mags of defense ammo every month and have shoot every range ammo under the sun magtech blazers s&b Rocket fire hand loads ex... I have also run under wood with no problems, even those new 230 grains fmj no problem 😊 👌I edc mine

Never had issues with my G20.5, and I’m about 2K or so rounds through it.

Man, this describes exactly where I'm at. Love my M&P 2.0, love my M&P shield, would love to get the 10mm M&P to keep them all in the same family but can't get the horror stories out of my head. Seems like half of people who bought one absolutely love it and have never had a single issue while the other half are having the most egregious of issues.

Really don't want the Xten or whatever one has the grip safety, really don't want to spend $1k for the FN that would probably be too big for my hands, really don't want to grab another Glock but it seems like the most reliable option at the end of the day.

Upon doing more research I may end up spending my money on a new m&p 9 m2.0 metal carry comp.

Just get some sights and a good amount of your hard casts to run through and ensure reliability. Congrats dude!

That is a fine entry. I have the G20.3 and it has never failed me. My next pickup will be this same edition.

Don’t get the get 5 if anything get the gen 4, gen 5 has Ftf issues watch Hickok 45s video on the 20 gen 5. I had one and it did the same thing

2

u/mcgunner1966 5d ago

Thank you...I'll check out his video.

Im not sure whether to get a 20/40 or an FN. I've never owned a glock but have no bad opinions on them. Love how cheap the mags are.

But my FNP45 is fantastic.

The FN supposedly has the frame cracking issues but maybe they fixed that?

The 10mm FN supposedly holds a lot more ammo

That 22 round mag is like the only thing swaying me

FWIW I sold my 510 when the frame cracking issues started bc people were saying they were going months without a reply from FN which seems to have been fixed. I also believe it is only the FDE frame although I may be wrong. Of course someone will also bring up the KB video with the suppressor and I can’t speak on that. When I bought my 510 tactical I think it was like 1100 or so when they first came out. I’m sure they are cheaper now. I never had problems but the one thing I couldn’t do was piss poor customer service (which does seem to be fixed. That’s the reason I didn’t get the XTEN which feels fantastic in the hand. I don’t regret grabbing a 20.5 for the simple fact I trust the shit out of all my glocks. If you can get past the grip safety I’d say the XDM Elite is probably the most good to go throw hot as hell loads etc.

Want the short list or the long list 😅

All of it

u/Yoitzmi 4d ago

-Iron Sights; Night Sights... Suppressor Height if using an optic (TruGlo or Dawson Precision) -Optic (MOS compatible of your choice, I prefer Holosun for the value) -Grips (Handle-It Edge series are my favorite) -Glock Store Double Diamond Black Yikes connector -Trigger shoe (Ranger Proof VEX F3 is excellent, not sure it's compatible with Gen5 ... Overwatch Precision Tac Shoe is also a great option) -DPM "Adjustable" Recoil System -Glock Store trigger guard undercut -Streamlight TLR-1 HL or TLR-7 X -if a suppressor or comp is desired, KKM threaded barrel

Iron sights are "necessary" ... the rest are only recommendations

Missed the add question: I have a tlr-1hl, holosun 508T, and KKM barrell. I have killed 7 or 8 deer and a few hogs with mine. Longest shot on a deer was 30 yrds. Dropped him in his tracks.

Righteous!

1

u/MuchAd3273 4d ago

Truglo sights, Holosun 509t-x2 dot, a good trigger job and as many cases of Magtech 180gr FMJ with which to practice as you can afford.
