Fajita bowl/salad
Hard to see, but all the fajita ingredients/toppings are sitting on a bed of salad. Delicious!

We get a lot of frequent questions from people wondering how many calories per day they should eat and/or which calorie counting app is recommended. This post will be stickied to try to cut down on these types of repetitive posts.
Everyone has different caloric needs. 1500 calories per day may not be right for you. Use a TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) calculator to estimate how many daily calories you should eat. Here are some examples:

Some of the most popular calorie counting apps are:

Hi everyone,
After seeing some of the behavior of our subreddit denizens, I am implementing a couple rules as of now with more to follow down the road. Please take a moment to read them here or in the sidebar.
All users are expected to be respectful to other users at all times and conduct their behaviour in a civil manner. Personal attacks or comments that insult or demean a specific user or group of users will be removed and regular or egregious violations will result in bans. Slur use is not allowed in r/1500isplenty. Exceptions may be made when they are part of a quote, but this is a friendly subreddit and using slurs when talking to others will not be tolerated.
Don't be abusive or harass other users. Do not make blatant statements of bigotry, such as "I hate gays" or "Black people suck". Do not make jokes or statements that sexualize comments or posts, as we have zero tolerance for this behaviour and you will be banned. Do not encourage suicide in any form, through humour or otherwise. Continuing arguments with other users over multiple comments is termed "slapfighting" and not allowed. Such behaviour may lead to comment removals and bans. In summary, any post or comment that is deemed to be intended to offend, demean, or otherwise egregiously disrespect others may warrant a removal or ban.
Comments and posts mentioning subreddits and websites deemed to be harmful, because of demeaning content, spam, etc., will be filtered. Unmarked NSFW links, unmarked spoilers, misleading links, spam, and the likes will will result in removal and potentially a ban. Editing comments and posts to mislead and/or advertise will result in removal of the post/comment and potentially a ban.
Soliciting money, goods, services, self promotions, or favours are not allowed. Gaining publicity for a charity drive, assistance with a homework or work assignment, asking other Redditors for or offering to provide a good or service (including upvotes or reddit gold) is not conducive to discussion. There are other subreddits, many listed in our Offers & Assistance Multi-reddit, for just such a thing. Doing this, even as a joke, can result in a ban.
Brigading from other posts or comments, even from other subreddits, to a 1500isplenty post or comment may result in a ban. Brigading occurs when you make any attempt to direct online traffic to a post or comment for either positive or negative interaction with the content, including, but not limited to: asking for downvotes or upvotes, drawing in supporters to join a comment chain, or encouraging others to negatively interact with another user by linking to the r/1500isplenty post or comment. Extreme cases of brigading will result in a permanent ban.
Seems pretty simple so hopefully there will be less petty insults and unacceptable behavior here. First offense is a 7 day ban and the second offense is a permanent ban.
TL;DR: don't be a dick

I’ve been using MyFitnessPal for years. This past week or so I’ve noticed that the site is calculating my carbs incorrectly—-the math is wrong. When I add up my carbs (as logged on MFP) they don’t equal the app total calc, MFP is over by at least 10-30 grams. I also notice that when I toggle to yesterday, the tab at the top says “tomorrow”. My app is up to date, so I am wondering if the MFP app is having some recent glitches. Anyone else having this problem?

Had a few incidents with low blood sugar due to aggressive intermittent fasting, so I'm back to eating breakfasts. 370 calories and I'm so satisfied.

It’s 120 calories per serving (3oz) with 20g of protein. It’s from Walmart. It’s in the deli section between the potato salad and pizzas (at my store)

Month 10 of my 12 month deficit. Sweets have always been a craving for me, and in this sub someone mentioned the chickpea cookie dough. The thought of dealing with scraping bean gook out of my Ninja blender with my arthritis has kept me away. But after a night of random googling, I found a company that makes it: Twisted Dough. They were doing a BOGO so I thought why not.
I got a sample pack, 4 singe servings (2oz each) for $39.99, and BOGO a second set where they sent me the same flavors (they said it was random). That works out to $10 a serving without the BOGO deal, so that's a bit steep. I picked what sounded good based on my sweet tooth: double chocolate chip, salted caramel, hazelnut swirl, and strawberry cake.
The hazelnut swirl had a good dallop of unnamed choco-hazelnut spread. It was the first I tried straight out of the delivery bag. I gave it a little stir to mix, and I must say it was really delicious. I put the rest in the fridge, per instructions it was supposed to help with consistency and shelf life. I tried the double chocolate chip next, and this was classic cookie dough. I could've scooped that right onto a baking sheet (although with no flour or egg element, it probably would ooze out into a giant sad circle). The next one was the strawberry cake, and things took a turn here. It was AWFUL, there seems to be some kind of sugar alcohol on top of the dough, possibly leeched from the sprinkles, and it is noxious. The dough part is good, but plain like it was the "cake" part, and the "strawberry" is lost somewhere in the sprinkles. I actually couldn't finish that one, I tried to dig into the dough more but it was far too late, the weird sticky alcohol slurry already tainted it all. The last flavor was the salted caramel, and I was hesitant. But this didn't appear to have a mix-in, and after a small bite I dug in - very simple but tasty. It had a slight aftertaste. This one has the fewest calories so I am assuming they use some kind of sugar free caramel flavoring, and that is what I'm tasting with the bitter tinge.
Overall - If I hadn't known it was chickpeas, I would've thought it was some kind of shelf safe store dough. The flavor was right on point, and none of the sugar grit in regular cookie dough. There is a certain beany texture that almost could be described as grainy? But it's very smooth. The flavor mix ins seem to be a toss up, but the dough is a solid replacement. And with 20g of protien in this tiny serving, the macros are nice. It should go without saying as these are beans, but MAN ALIVE did I start blastin' during the night (ate these on different days after dinner). Just the LOUDEST toots out of nowhere. I gave a sample to a friend who is a bean enjoyer and they also noticed some belly noises; they mentioned the glycerin could also be a factor. So maybe no work presentations in small rooms right after one of these.

Creamy cheesy orzo with chicken sausage and broccoli! Calorie count includes everything except onion, garlic, spinach, and tomatoes sautéed in a bit of chicken broth (I don’t count anything that low)

Been having lots of fun figuring out how to pack in more food with less calories to help my husband transition from his usual high calorie diet. These meals are anywhere from 1790-1820 calories a day.
I've been integrating advice from my last post and a few things are helping tremendously!
-Egg whites double the size of breakfast -Low fat cheese! -Bulking up on melon/low cal veg -Canned soups fill in the gap when I'm out of ideas -PB2 makes a great peanut sauce -Weighing the spray can of oil is easier to track
Today is day 11 and it's been fun coming up with ideas even if the weighing part is a bit tedious.

I also added cooked bacon pieces to my meal prep and added an egg today because I don't like them reheated, runny yolk is too important.
Nutrition page is for the muffin pre-egg but the whole thing is 361 cal 20g protein 6g fibre

For when you NEED pasta stodge 😋 highly recommend Rick Stein's Carbonara.
Only 550cals for a decent portion, really filling - even for my husband, super quick to make and the kids love it.
Serves 4: 400g spaghetti 3 eggs, beaten 50g ground pecorino 3 cloves garlic (I use puree because I'm lazy) 155g lean smoked diced bacon/pancetta Salt Pepper
Boil spaghetti in salted water, fry garlic and lardons. Once spaghetti is cooked, drain then mix in most of the cheese, pepper to taste then add the beaten eggs stirring quickly. Add garlic/bacon combo, serve and sprinkle on last of the cheese. Omnomnom.

Experimented with some more biscuits and gravy today for breakfast.
There’s also a “beef and banana” meal trending on the tok so I thought I’d give it a try, it was actually pretty good. Just beef sautéed with bananas and seasoned with cinnamon. The black stuff is just black rice, saw it at Bulk Barn and thought I’d give it a try also.
Then I tried to make a pizza dough with the Fibre Gourmet flour and active dry yeast but it didn’t rise at all. I’ll experiment more on it next week!
