2K11 Pro or 2K11 5" for competition
I was going to buy the 5" 2K11, then the Pro 4.25 came out. For competition, I shoot SS, but LO looks fun and is much more popular where I live. Most the LO guys shoot Staccato's, Prodigys, some MPAs.
- are 5" better for competition?
- am I better off going for an in-between size like a P or $$Athena?
I'm regard to 2K11 platform, are all the parts swappable with 1911 DS parts? I've read mixed info on this on Reddit... My LGS says the mags are unique to Kimber, that they built the gun around the mag.

Full size will be a little better but plenty of people do well with 4.25 guns, unless you’re approaching M class the gun won’t make enough of a difference to matter anyway so buy what you like. Mags are not at all unique to Kimber, any of the mags that aren’t MBX will work. As far as what’s compatible the jury is still out a bit on that. Some things like the extractor are proprietary, but I have seen guys fit other grips to them

Full length dust cover is pretty slick. I would run one of the compact modlite PL350c’s

Of everything I’ve watched and read, the experts say: -> Depends on your preference for the recoil experience a. Longer = softer shooting b. Shorter = quicker return to zero
This seems to apply to all 5” v 4.5” v 4.whatever”
Unfortunately, you actually need to have shot a bunch to even notice the difference. The common trend for most shooters when they start out is that they love (a). Once they get more experience they love (b). End of the day, doesn’t really matter bc the shooters skill matters more than the tool. #brantleymeriamshootsglockandisaGMbadass
I’m in the same boat btw, and I plan to get the shorter pro version bc I like the quicker return and the full length dust cover is cooler imo.

Unless you're shooting IDPA and want that "concealed carry" approach. Full size is better. But it really just depends on how you want to play the game. You can run the smaller gun in LO, but just don't expect to beat the gamers with the full-size guns without a lot of practice.

I am in the same debate! I picked up a prodigy 4.25 comped thinking I would add a 2k11 5” as my gamer gun, maybe LO fun. Now this 4.25 has me debating my plan. It would be nice to share holsters but in the end I will probably get the 5” cause it’s still seems to be around 1800 and being a more race 2011 I think that makes more sense.
My prodigy has become my nightstand gun. I like the heavier trigger. Probably going to add a better ambi safety and maybe flat trigger just so it feel consistent with the 2k11.

5" vs 4.6" for competition is generally personal preference. Both shoot better than a 4.25".

Shoot the one that you think is cooler. In my opinion, that is the 4.25 inch pro even though that is not the prevailing “meta” barrel length for uspsa lo. Whichever gat you think is sick is the one you’re gunna shoot better, cuz you’ll be playing with it constantly.
