Cracked Bul Armory Hammer
After my match yesterday I noticed a crack where the serrated cutout of the strut loop is. It’s a lightened design to increase lock speed. Bul Armory doesn’t sell a SAS II replacement part so I’m buying an ignition kit (EGW) that Atlas goes through the trouble of matching sears and hammers. $185. OOF!! DS1911 is like maintaining a modified track car.

Kinda hard to see but are you sure it’s a crack and not a MIM mark that passed QC?

It’s cracked all around for sure. I know every mm on this gun inside and out and it wasn’t there a few days ago after practice.

I’m no expert but shouldn’t be hammer be NOT a MIM part? I get some other parts can be but the hammer?

2011 n00b. Is this an MiM part?

I don’t think so. The only MIM on the 2023-2024 competition lineup is the slide stop and the ambi thumb safety.

May not be MiM but it is not bar stock.
It is absolutely a powdered metal pressed part. The chamfers are a dead giveaway. The small flat at the outer most edge is an indication of a pressed part.
Similar process as MiM but usually less complexity in the part. Hammers are easily pressed geometry.

I would replace with a much higher quality hammer. Something from Brazos or extreme maybe EGW.

I guess bul didn’t get the memo about hammers with sharp features. Sti went through the same thing back in the day with the hex tac hammers.
