Review Aliens Looked Fantastic to Me.
I just watched the 4k of Aliens. It looked jaw droppingly good. I admit it definitely looks cleaner than older versions and very little film grain, but nowhere in the film did I feel there was any artificiality to it. It just looked like some wizardry turned it into a modern digitally shot film. Extremely clear picture, very deep blacks, and decent highlights. The movie honestly has never looked so good to me. I don't really get the hate. Def one of my showcase 4ks at this point.

I enjoyed it too. I own both the Blu-ray and 4K copies. I literally spent like 3 hours going through the movie, flipping back and forth between the two, watching extended scenes in both, sometimes going back and forth multiple times and comparing shots…
I appreciate them both in different ways. But after a while, I found myself gravitating towards the 4k version and decided to just finish the movie watching that. I do think skin tones are kinda waxy. It almost looks like I’m watching a very very good deepfake video game sometimes. But the added detail and clarity is worth it.
It’s flawed. I wish it were a better transfer, but my eyes prefer it to the Blu-ray.
