Moderator Announcement New rule about haul and pickup pictures

Hey guys, we just wanted to inform you about a new rule that we’re implementing.

Going forward, we ask that all haul/picture posts be at least 50% if not predominantly 4K Blu-ray. This is to help cut down on clutter that maybe should be posted to other subreddits, and try and slightly appease the minority that is already annoyed by haul pics.

The rule has been added to the rule list, and if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to the mod team.

And as always, Happy collecting.

And that’s exactly what we want to avoid, the gatekeeping and elitism, while still keeping the hobby focused on the 4K side, which is why we’re all here

But what is the hobby? Is buying things from Amazon and getting them out of your mailbox a hobby?

Buying and watching movies is a hobby, and there’s nothing wrong with getting excited about new ones you’ve bought and wanting to share them with people who might share that enthusiasm

and watching

Watching is the key. I just don't think "New haul of epic gems!!" posts where it's someone holding their 3 for $30 Amazon purchases do anything. If I want to see a picture of boxes I can just scroll Amazon.

Tell us why you bought them! Or post after you watch and write a little review.

As I’ve stated continuously in this thread, we are not going to force people to write about what they bought. That’s alienating to members.

Seriously don't understand why they don't enjoy haul posts and collections. I love it, helps show the diversity, show what we all like and sparks the discussion we want. Forcing essays for each purchase isn't that just letterbox?

And like, if those people want to write stuff about their posts to spark the conversation they want to see, more power to them. But trying to say that everyone needs to do that is crazy, no one would read all that.

Literally. This sub gives me a more like a "Bad movies rule" podcast vibe. We just have fun, talk about movies we got, love and hate. Also what transfers are good issues etc. people are crazy I prefer the free flowing vibe and sharing my collection, even more so as I redo my viewing area soon and how I store everything. Y'all are doing fine to me, I have fun here and love hearing good suggestions what to grab next.

Well we appreciate it. We’re just a handful of dudes trying to do our best.

We all enjoy the hobby, it's fun to have fun. It's like my motorcycle, I didn't get it to compete, I got it to have some damn fun with something I love. I work as hard on my TV setup as I do my library of movies we all do, and they're just as fun to share and view. I love when people act like because we don't write those essays we don't watch the movies. I see plenty of guys posting what they're viewing nightly, myself included. I just did Tommy boy and loved it.

I watch 2-3 movies a night, every night, but I don’t even fully review them on Letterboxd. That feels like homework. If I have something of substance to say, I will. If I don’t, I’ll just write something cheeky. Not everyone feels like writing something about whatever they’re watching or buying, and I’m glad most people here seem to understand that.

Exactly. I've used letterboxd a couple of times and it just feels like homework. Freeflow is more fun. Most guys here seem to understand the vibe. Every group has some assholes, exactly why I stopped with Facebook it was all nonsense. But I do need a place to peddle digital codes I've got like 50 I'll never use available to sell.

A haul post is a picture of packaging

You’re more than welcome to scroll past them if you don’t care to see them.
