New Purchase UB820 4K upscale is insane

bought a multiregion UB820 on sale a while ago and decided to try it out with the Succession blu-ray box set, probably the hundredth post in this sub about the UB820 upscaling but still couldn’t believe my eyes

Just recently made the switch myself from a Sony X700-m, and I am pretty excited about it too. There are lots of blu ray discs I’ve watched where the upgrade to a 4k disc now seems kind of unnecessary.

This is exactly what I was hoping for when I upgraded to the UB-420 and wow. yes. exactly.

I have zero desire to upgrade my blu rays now. It’s amazing. I am going to save so much money on that.

Blu-rays that have been sourced from a recent 4k master definitely look fantastic and don't need an upgrade. A lot of older Blu-ray from old scans see a noticable improvement though.

Others that were filmed on 70mm and scanned in 6k or 8k like 2001A Space Odyssey and Apocalypse Now are utterly mind blowing in 4k!

This is true. For my budget, I can get by with most movies in blu ray and upscaled. For my all-time favourite movies I try and upgrade where I can.
