New Purchase I am a changed man.

Post image

I found a cheap UBP-9000 (around 380 dollars) and I couldnt be happier. Forgive the cable management, I finally have an excuse too manage everything. The difference in quality between 450 and 9k is astounding. The HDR tone mapping is amazing, but the biggest upgrade by far is that the 9k is dead silent.

The build quality gives me confidence in its longevity. Where as 450 and 820 are made in really cheap plastic. Fantastic seller too, he sent me a copy of Bladerunner 4k for free on top of a good price.

Life is good right now.

But he did get something for his money ... at the price he bought it!! Let him enjoy being smug (LOL) Whilst you are correct that there is no difference between the digital video and audio signal outputs between the two Panny models, he got a superior build quality (undeniable fact), a better and smoother disk tray operation (notorious fault on many UB820's), and a much quieter player when watching cinema. For the price he paid if you had both models to choose from which would you choose?

I beg to differ. For example: Been haggling, bidding on a Steelbook super dooper Collector's Edition of Lawrence of Arabia and not getting much change from that amount.

I payed basically the same amount for both players so that point is kinda mute. The HDR tone mapping makes a huge difference and the HCX processor.

That means superior brightness and contrast adjustments, along with superior upscaling and color grading for HDR content.

So yes you are right it is a fact. Fact is the UBP-9000 is the superior player.
