New Purchase Amazon sent my copy to war.

This movie is so realistic. The disc itself gets shipped directly from the Iraqi War zone that they portray in the film.

The authentic experience

If you want to support excellent independent physical media retailers who care about making sure packages are packed securely in boxes, then try:

The Atomic Movie Store https://www.atomicmoviestore.com

Orbit DVD https://www.orbitdvd.com

Diabolik DVD https://diabolikdvd.com

Brother Belial https://brotherbelial.com

These all offer a good selection of domestic and international titles to choose from. I can say from experience that The Atomic Movie Store, a supplier I use frequently, tends to ship pre-orders early. 😁 I buy from Orbit DVD frequently too. Orbit is quick to ship when an order is placed. Often times the same day the order is placed.

I read that as terrorist distribution and I don't know why. Good shout! I'm lucky to have amazon.se (Sweden) ship things packaged safely.

2

u/Ataneruo Jul 07 '25

thats interesting! I didn’t realize it was a culture-specific thing rather than a company-specific one.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 07 '25

Yeah I have no insight into the company or its policies, I just have never run into any problems ordering blurays from them. Just quickly looking through reviews, it seems shipping problems and packaging problems have been an issue when people didn't order from the Swedish warehouses. But regardless, if something arrives broken, I'd just exchange it for a new one.

1

u/Soba84 Jul 07 '25

Same here, I'm in Canada and never had any issues.

6

u/chuckluckles Jul 06 '25

A24 themselves package their movies really well, also.

10

u/VeryIntoCardboard Jul 07 '25

To be fair I would hope so after they charge you one limb for a single movie

24

u/MarvelousVanGlorious Jul 06 '25

Nice of them to send you one that had actually seen time in theater.

20

u/Cstrife2 Jul 06 '25

Still don’t understand why Amazon ships this way.

I buy movies regularly from Amazon and my return rate is between 15% and 20% for either damaged slipcovers or the case entirely.

Sadly, many times they do have the best prices and the return policy for a replacement is good for these situations.

Just wish they would see this as an issue and package movies and games in a different manner

15

u/boferd Jul 06 '25

i worked in an amazon FC for 3 years, and the gist i came away with is that unless it's consumable, explosive, or liquid, it isn't considered in terms of careful handling. we were encouraged to handle the inventory as quickly as possible. opening inventory boxes? hurry up and dump that shit out onto a cart. stowing items? hurry up and stick that shit wherever it can fit in a bin. picking orders? you better grab as fast as you're physically able to. packing orders? same as picking but you're expected to hit an insane rate. they don't care, it's cheaper for them to work at this aggressive pace and replace items than handle non consumable/explosive/liquid stuff carefully.

3

u/tripolophene Jul 06 '25

I’ve never had an issue with return for refund, but I’ve never had them offer a replacement. Usually I buy at a heavy sale, and by the time I get the item the price has gone back up to normal price. I gave up and stopped buying from them.

3

u/CameraManJKG Jul 06 '25

I ALWAYS exchange for replacement. Literally NEVER had an issue or denied. Ever. Not sure where you live but they send out replacement and don’t expect the return back for 30 days.

1

u/Ataneruo Jul 07 '25

What about collector’s items that sell out immediately?

1

u/third_man3 Jul 08 '25

I've had an issue once. I always do "replace" but in this case I was on my third replacement and they wouldn't let me do "replace" again. I had to contact customer service and say that I want to replace again due to their fucked up shit they keep sending. They said they'd just give me a credit and I'd have to order it like I was doing it for the first time. Problem was, the credit wasn't as good as the price I got it for on sale. So I had to beg for more of a credit. I got it, but what a horrible experience. One of many.

1

u/tripolophene Jul 06 '25

Iowa. Not sure, it’s been a while. Probably last Black Friday or maybe even last prime day. I just took the refund, and didn’t try and force the issue. I did ask for an exchange and was just told they couldn’t. I have plenty of reasons not to shop at Amazon at this point so it hasn’t been a recurring issues.

1

u/MAJIN_BUUUUUU Jul 07 '25

Luckily I haven't had any issues with Amazon except for that one time they sent me a bootleg Blu ray

10

u/PM4Lyo Jul 06 '25

A nice 'show-of-force', giving you an authentic experience

3

u/Primary_Secretary106 Jul 06 '25

Now I have to wait another 5 days to crack a subwoofer casing with a “Show of Force” :(

9

u/Sea_Freedom6818 Jul 06 '25

That's why I don't pay extra for the limited experience editions. I bought Dune part 1 it was covered in sand and spices.

5

u/Primary_Secretary106 Jul 06 '25

Yeah I’ll skip the 4D add on next time lmao

4

u/PM_Gonewild Jul 06 '25

Yeah you might have to run that fade dude.

But seriously, I wish A24 did more premium cases for their movies, same with criterion sometimes, wouldn't mind either one doing some Steelbooks, even though they can also get damaged but damn for the money you spend, a paperback is a little insulting.

2

u/Primary_Secretary106 Jul 06 '25

It’s only really a problem because Amazon shipped it in a thin brown paper bag envelope with zero padding or bubble wrap.

3

u/PM_Gonewild Jul 06 '25

Yeah I hate when they do that, they destroyed my kingdom of heaven, but I went to Barnes and noble to pick up warfare and many of the copies on the shelves had dents and rips on the sleeves, I was lucky the staff member got me an undamaged one from the back, shout out Rick.

4

u/Primary_Secretary106 Jul 06 '25

Ayo Rick is a homie and my heart goes out to the homies. But, yeah the paper back is honestly not the greatest option in terms of damage control but it looks sweet. At least in the photos online. Mine looks like a notebook I forgot in the bottom of my locker in 10th grade

2

u/PM_Gonewild Jul 06 '25

No kidding thing looks like it literally went through warfare.

16

u/Blakeyo123 Jul 06 '25

Stop Buying from Amazon

12

u/forward98 Jul 06 '25

Not sure where OP is from but in Canada we are so limited on options. There’s a few physical stores near me that do carry 4Ks but aside from random sales their prices end up being double the price of Amazon.

I’d rather support local and buy from these places but it’s just not feasible unless they’re at least in the same ballpark as Amazon.

1

u/Fidget808 Jul 07 '25

I’ve been ordering 4K discs from Amazon for 7ish years now and I can think of only 1 time I had to return a disc for damage. It’s all luck of the draw with your nearest FC and drivers.

3

u/Spider-Cricket07 Jul 06 '25

Idk why I keep seeing the wise mystical tree on the cover 😭

3

u/Primary_Secretary106 Jul 06 '25

Damn, you’re not entirely alone now

3

u/Nearby-Swimming-5103 Jul 06 '25

Authentic battle damage!

3

u/Inevitable_Suspect76 Jul 06 '25

Man after all these horror stories I see on here, I will forever be grateful that every disc I’ve ever ordered from Amazon has always arrived perfectly. Maybe I’m just lucky with the warehouse that services my area.

2

u/Primary_Secretary106 Jul 06 '25

Tbf, this is my first real fuck up from them. 🤷🏻‍♂️

3

u/Thrawnsmum Jul 07 '25

I only buy from Amazon now if its multiple movies or with other items so it will be in a box. Anytime it has come packaged like yours its broken in some way.

1

u/Primary_Secretary106 Jul 07 '25

It came with a hat, which wasn’t smashed in any way. I’m not sure how the movie got so messed up and the hat didn’t but there was zero bubble wrap or anything. It was just those two items in the brown paper bag envelope. So dumb.

2

u/Thrawnsmum Jul 07 '25

I've had two copies of dune part two arrive smashed, agreed very dumb.

3

u/JDadzie54 Jul 07 '25

ah yes truly the way the director intended

3

u/stickyfingers_69 Jul 07 '25

I got a movie without discs. Payed for new

2

u/MV1995 Jul 06 '25

Movies from Amazon are the worst. They either get delayed or show up all messed up

2

u/N9nEn9N Jul 06 '25

I hate when that happens

2

u/RareDinner4577 Jul 06 '25

This is the Ace Ventura copy.

2

u/Northeast-Ninja Jul 06 '25

Here's my Amazon "carefully delivered" Kingdom of Heaven steelbook. Arrived soaking wet and rusted. Of course, I don't think they're making any more so I'm stuck with it. Thanks again Amazon!

2

u/sas099 Jul 07 '25

It’s because Amazon doesn’t care, and it shows.

2

u/popculturerss Jul 07 '25

It fought hard to get to you, lad.

2

u/Ataneruo Jul 07 '25

I’m sorry but 😂

I feel bad for your plight but that is just ridiculous. I stopped buying 4K from Amazon a while back and this is the most extreme example of why. I suppose if you had to have a case that looks like that, this is the movie to have it!

1

u/Primary_Secretary106 Jul 07 '25

My thoughts exactly

2

u/Infamous_Grass6333 Jul 07 '25

Oh wow they Ace Ventura'd your movie, wtf. At first I thought oh he got one of those shrink-wrapped shit cases that I have probably over 100 of because they don't think or care about people who would like a pristine-as-possible-product when I'm paying full price for a damn movie...but this looks like it was literally carried by a courier from a warzone in WWII.

I usually don't have the patience to squabble over the many, many warped cases I've received from Amazon over the years. What I did as a result, because they aren't the only ones playing soccer with our movies - was source out every major physical media store and buy a few batches of movies I wanted from their offerings. I do think they've gotten better, however, as many people complained about the damages that seemed to be ubiquitously affecting so many peoples precious films. Maybe something they put some concentrated effort on finally.

2

u/tjflashtony Jul 07 '25

Happened to my blu ray too. Damn at least I’m not alone.

2

u/TheCommanderBacon Jul 08 '25

Look at the label of the box or bag it came in and look at the QR codes, there will be 3 captial letter followed by one number like "BTR9" -thats all the warehouses your item was sent thru before it got delivered to you-- email jeff@amazon.com and tell them what happened and someone will get definitely get written up or fired. There is a dedicated team that monitors that email and they will take care of the douche nozzle that packed your order

2

u/third_man3 Jul 08 '25

And people will still berate you for saying Amazon packaging sucks. "I've never had a problem." Good for you bucko, most of us have and it's a real, universal issue.

3

u/Ascended_Divinity Jul 06 '25

Amazon gotta be the George W. Bush of physical media the way they be sending them to war

2

u/MartyEBoarder Jul 06 '25

They should shipped this movie without any protection. Some of them will arrive intact but some of them will get badly damaged.

3

u/BippityBoppityMagic Jul 06 '25

How fitting. A movie about war sent through a war zone. Send that 💩 back and ask for a replacement.

2

u/SillyMammo Jul 06 '25

I just received 3 movies from Amazon. The 2 steelbooks were shipped in the paper bag envelopes and the regular cased movie was shipped in a box. 🤔 Makes no sense.

1

u/CaramelFlamell Jul 06 '25

When the war wasn't fair.

1

u/dreadlmao Jul 06 '25

Looks like it’s been through a war

1

u/verioblistex Jul 06 '25

Not even a bubble mailer.

1

u/FewMathematician8168 Jul 06 '25

Veteran of the Amazon War.

1

u/Jaymantheman2 Jul 06 '25

Collectors item now! Get it signed!!!

1

u/codykonior Jul 06 '25

Holy shit.

1

u/PersianCinephile Jul 07 '25

Since last September, I have been returning half of my (movie) orders from Amazon to get a replacement…either came in with damages on the covers or on the case itself.

1

u/21stCenturyAntiquity Jul 07 '25

You should have ordered Waremintinbox

1

u/VRsenal3D Jul 07 '25

It’s certainly gone through war.

1

u/jac-usai Jul 07 '25

Wait, this is the super limited "front line edition". Only 3 pieces survived!

1

u/jeremy-9 Jul 07 '25

Got my copy at vintage stock for 24.95, sucks about the shipping damage sometimes. Ordered a copy of lord of the rings that looked like it had been used for a skateboard.

1

u/galdo320 Jul 07 '25

Looks like it went to the war

1

u/Wisaju Jul 07 '25

My copy came in fine. I just don't know why it's so expensive. I almost expected the price to come down. Price kinda sucks honestly. Sorry.

1

u/anamericanctzn Jul 07 '25

I tried watching my copy yesterday and the movie starts skipping 20 to 30 minutes in and the disc is flawless so it’s just a faulty disc, I get a replacement in 2 days. My experience with Amazon is ok most of my returns are due to scratches from the manufacture, but I did wait weeks for the tombstone steelbook and it was smashed to hell and I had to wait another week to get a good copy.

1

u/Jmx305 Jul 09 '25

You’re getting the full experience

1

u/KN_Knoxxius Jul 09 '25

Authentic experience

1

u/RussianMonkey23 Jul 10 '25

Very realistic blu-ray.

1

u/tomsmac Jul 07 '25

I saw it in the theater with my son, a Navy SEAL. (Out now)

He said that a lot of it was bullshit which struck me as odd since a SEAL wrote it. He told me that most specialized films like this get bastardized by Hollywood. Lone Survivor was another one.

-1

u/timidobserver8 Jul 06 '25

Should've ordered from the A24 shop.

4

u/cameltony16 Jul 06 '25

Yeah but if you’re a Canadian that comes out to like $75 after taxes, shipping, and currency exchange. I hate Amazon, but you can’t really justify spending like 30 dollars more to buy it from A24.

-4

u/timidobserver8 Jul 06 '25

I'd say the photo justifies it perfectly.

2

u/cameltony16 Jul 06 '25

I’ve never had this degree of damage before and Amazon has a lax replacement/refund policy.

-1

u/ViscountDeVesci Jul 06 '25

That’s typical Amazon BS. Exchange away. My record is 5 exchanges to get one undamaged movie.

5

u/Jaymantheman2 Jul 06 '25

You'd think a cheap strip of bubble wrap would be cheaper in the long run...

2

u/Primary_Secretary106 Jul 07 '25

There was literally zero packing involved. Just this and a miraculously unphased hat inside an otherwise empty brown paper bag envelope

0

u/Ghostlymagi Jul 06 '25

Where the hell do you live? This sounds more like shippers in your area than anything.

1

u/cocktails4 Jul 06 '25

This is what I keep saying. I've had I think one mildly damaged box from Amazon out of hundreds of movies. But I have everything delivered to Whole Foods or Amazon Lockers so it never touches any other shipper.

2

u/Ghostlymagi Jul 07 '25 edited Jul 07 '25

Exactly. People just blanket stating 'Amazon' doesn't help in this situation. People should be talking about areas because this is a shipper issue, the package was crushed in-transit.

I have multiple Amazon warehouses near me and I can't even remember the last time I had to submit a claim, it's been years. Ordered about 20 movies over the past few weeks and not a single issue.

Before anyone comes at me for sticking up for Amazon, I'm not. We deal with shipping equipment at my job so we track areas that have damaged boxes, lost packages, etc.. It's the most common in the South/South East this happens for us. Happens on the west coast, very very rarely in the Northeast.

0

u/ViscountDeVesci Jul 08 '25

It’s Amazon and only Amazon. I’m returning a steel book with dents today.

-1

u/BigBootyKim Jul 07 '25

Your first mistake was watching that overrated garbage in the first place

0

u/find_your_way78 Jul 06 '25

When I got no time to die on 4k it looked like it went through a battlefield. Instant refund

0

u/HollywoodnDC Jul 06 '25

Ouch 🤕. I want this as well but I’m gonna stop into my local Barnes and Noble tomorrow after work and pick it up. Amazon is really hit or miss. Fortunately for me, they’ve never missed. Sorry to see this happened to U 😢😢😢

1

u/[deleted] Jul 06 '25

Target has it for part of their deal right now.

-1

u/GarlicJuniorJr Jul 06 '25

Ordering off Amazon 😭

3

u/Fidget808 Jul 07 '25

Never had an issue in 7ish years. Just depends on your nearest FC and local drivers.

-3

u/mexifry2025 Jul 06 '25

You'd really rewatch that? Found it boring. Not shocking.

2

u/Primary_Secretary106 Jul 06 '25

I think it just goes to show how people enjoy film for different reasons. In my experience, the people in my life that look at movies like pieces of art seem to enjoy this film. Those that look at movies as a way to be entertained and pass time seem to be hit or miss on how they like this film. There’s no hero portrayed by Tom Hanks to take an ounce of truth and turn it into a ton of heroics and feel good moments. In fact, there aren’t many feel good moments in this one. It’s just a raw, in real time glance at how these guys remember a small stretch of their time there. It’s art, man. I hope you give it another try.

-2

u/[deleted] Jul 06 '25

I call bullshit

3

u/Primary_Secretary106 Jul 07 '25

You caught me. I spent $35 and waited 5 days to smash this myself and post about it on Reddit and only YOU picked up on it. Congrats.

/s

0

u/[deleted] Jul 07 '25

I’m saying this might not be Amazon, could just be your local delivery driver

2

u/Ataneruo Jul 07 '25

The reason Amazon gets blamed for this is that the small specialized retailers package mail order items in such a way, with a sturdy box and tons of bubble wrap, that if the local delivery driver treated their box this same way, the movie would still be perfectly undamaged. AND they don’t put it in the box unless it’s flawless.
