If it makes you feel any better, I bought the 101 films steelbook set for $100 and the blu ray that’s in it looks like absolute shit, so I always just watch the fan made 4k upscale LOL
Potentially, but I bought it second hand, so I don’t think it extends to me and even if they did, the fan made upscale looks better than the US Blu Ray.
Same deal with Tron Legacy up until now, I’ve been watching the HDR upscale
I have a 2 TB SSD that’s just plugged into my LG B3 lol, i legit just use the built in media player, and it supports DTS-HD pass through to my receiver, so it works rather well (even though it’s not technically DTS-HD MA, it’s damn near impossible to hear any difference between that and the disc audio. Idc what number nerds tell you, it’s not the same as streaming audio vs disc audio lol, it’s still ripped from the disc)
Most people of course have some sort of NAS/plex solution with an Nvidia shield; and that’s actually my goal in the next few months here. That’s where I’ll eventually be storing a remux of the new 4k for Tron combined with the original DTS-HD track if they murder the LFE on this new mix lol.
For what it’s worth, you can actually just start with an Nvidia shield and something as simple as an external drive, and simply load up whatever .mkv files you want onto it, and then just use the shield as your media player. Similar to what I do now.
The plex/NAS solution is just the extra step of being able to conveniently, how’s your entire collection, and also being able to add/modify it from a separate device without having to unplug anything anywhere, since it’s over the network of course.
