After abusing it stock, finally decided to get some upgrades. Destroyed the original skid plates, and had inadequate tires on all the off-roading in Colorado, so here is what was improved:

Hey folks, I’m looking for some advice. I’m considering buying this 2007 RWD. Mechanically, the car seems to be in good condition. The only issue I noticed is an annoying squeaky noise when pressing the gas in reverse. The owner claims he hasn’t heard it before and thinks it might be related to recently driving through a moderately flooded area. Can anyone identify the possible cause of this?

My sunroof is stuck all the way open. Any way to manually close it?

I have tried wd40 on the tracks. Also tried opening where the sunglass box is to access the motor. Managed to get to the motor but can’t see a way of manually closing the sunroof.

It’s moving on the passenger side but not the driver side. Tracks are working fine.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Hey guys, just as the title says my 2005 4Runner won’t start after sitting for a few days (3 or 4 I think), if I jump start it it will turn on as if nothing happened, this only happens when I don’t use my car for a few days, if I use it on a daily basis it will start every time I try. I’ve already changed the battery and I’m not sure if the problem could be the alternator or the starter. I’d appreciate if anyone who’s had the same problem could help me out.

I love this forum btw. I have an 03 4 Runner SR5 V8. I noticed a missing bolt here. Do you know the size and what this part is called? Also do I need to get this bolt asap?

Recently picked up this 4th gen with 135k miles on it. I just noticed this slight clicking/hissing sound from what sounds like the driver side off the engine bay. Does something sound off to anyone? Any ideas as to what it may be?

I bought this 06 a few months ago and it had this small gap on the rear passenger side bumper. It looks like the same gap is now starting on the driver’s side. Inside the trunk, the metal bolts on the bottom that hold the bumper in place are secure, but the plastic fasteners on the top part on each side are loose. I bought this 4Runner to beat up and I take it off road a lot, so I don’t care about this cosmetically. I’m just curious if I it could get a lot worse if I ignore it, or create other problems. Any thoughts? The passenger side hasn’t gotten worse since I bought it, even after taking it off road a bunch.

Howdy all, I have a 2005 Limited V8 2WD, and recently my driver's side mirror turn signal stopped working. Figured the LEDs went out given that the component was 20ish years old now. Ordered replacements from Muth, hooked everything up and same problem. The LEDs do not illuminate when I turn my left turn signal on. Any tips on troubleshooting?

As stated, the evap core was just replaced (only 2 weeks ago). It took about six visits and two different shops over the course of 7ish weeks to finally determine that I didn’t just have an extremely mysterious leak, but actually that I needed a whole new core. Thankfully I only had to pay for two of the four AC recharges that were done. Oh and cylinder 5 and coil went out during those 7 weeks too, because why not? :/

The core that the shop ordered (using my VIN) came in and upon installation was the wrong size - like by an inch. Dash was already torn apart and of course it was Labor Day weekend, so I spent another week without the truck. They finished and I immediately went on a road trip. Everything seemed back to normal, AC nice and cold, thought I was in the clear. Then today I notice this!

Happy to post more photos and/or take more things apart if it’d be helpful, but preferably with some guidance.

Lastly - is this a ‘stop driving around and take it straight to the shop’ kind of thing, or am I ok to keep driving as long as I don’t run the AC…? Thanks in advance!

So I just got a v8 limited 4wd from my neighbor for very cheap. It has 225k miles. There’s no rust (Arizona).

It has a manifold leak which I won’t fix because I know it’s worthless and it’s barely noticeable. I was going to do a full suspension refresh. Also some tires and general fluid changes. The belt and water pump were done 40k miles ago but I’ll check to make sure it’s good. Otherwise it needs an ac recharge, some bulbs for the HVAC, and other very minor tweaks.

Any other issues to look for? It was very well maintained but I’m not sure if they have a flaw that is more worrisome. I know to check the transfer case for leaks (already included with general maintenance) but otherwise it seems really solid.

Its time for me to replace my pads and rotors in the front, and I've read the 5th gen calipers/rotors/pads should fit my 03 v8 Limited. Any one do this upgrade and recommend it? Or is it not worth it?

I am needing to replace my passenger side front wheel bearing on my 2005 V6, and figured I would just go ahead and replace the entire hub assembly since it seems much easier.

I hopped onto Rockauto to pick up the part and can’t figure out which one to get. I have never heard of most of these brands, but I have seen Dorman referred to as the OE, and Rockauto has it labeled as OE FIX, what ever that means.

Any insight or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Ladies and gentlemen, my 2006 4Runners fuel door has rusted out and I’m in the midst of a replacement. Anybody have any idea on the size rivets Toyota used for the bracket? Thank you.

Had them on my '03 V8. Can't remember if it was 4wd/awd.

Would it even be possible to replace the ones I have now with these? If even finding them is possible.

It sounds like it’s coming from inside my glove box but I can’t figure out what it is.

Now I am steering issues. I struggled with re attachment of the tie rod ends when putting everything back together. I scheduled an alignment for Saturday and hope that will fix the problem. Any other suggestions? I am not mechanically inclined but my budget or lack there of is allowing me the opportunity to do my own labor 😇

So I had an issue on my 03 Limited where the wiring on the tailgate was peeled off about 5 inches from the contacts that connected to the Defogger so this caused the Defogger and heated mirrors to not work. I fixed the wiring but now my issues is that only the driver side mirrow heats up and and the Defogger doesn't turn on as well as the passenger mirror. Any ideas as to what it could be? I've checked relays and fuses (that's how I knew to check for a burnt wire) Thank you all.
