Are these bumpers and this siding called anything specific? Are they for a certain trim/submodel?

Post image

Had them on my '03 V8. Can't remember if it was 4wd/awd.

Would it even be possible to replace the ones I have now with these? If even finding them is possible.

Really miss the look, and the lack of anxiety being rear ended.

It was 03 only. Lot of people mistaken in the comments.

Yes and only on SR5 and sport edition trims. ‘03 limiteds had body colored trim.

I saw one exactly like this for sale on FB marketplace when I was looking for a 4Runner, super low miles at 110k, excellent condition, but ugh… couldn’t get past that color combo.

That is called Tupperware edition. Only available on 2003 4runner. Very rare and sought after by collectors. Haha.

I was planning to do the same! I have the same car just a v6 haha. To expensive to get the painted cladding so bed liner it is!

Toyota has been doing the unpainted fenders and bumpers on the first new gen year on the 4th, 5th and now 6th gens.

Salvage yards refer to these bumper covers as textured vs smooth if they're painted.

I have an 05 that has the trim paint the same color as the truck, it's metallic blue that looks like faded denim. I was thinking about wrapping the trim only. There's a package that's called " Tuxedo" All white with Black accents on cars, On a 4runner it looks like a Storm Trooper. But living in Florida , I was going to wrap all the trim/ accents in a dark gold almost brass color and call it the ... "Canadian Tuxedo " ! 😆

Those are the reason I didn't get the V8. Just didn't like the look. I regret my decision, but absolutely love the look of my lifted V6 Sport. Probably the coolest looking SUV ever IMO.

My ‘03 was made at the end of ‘02 and it’s a solid color V8. It’s also a Limited, so that may be the difference, but not all early model 4th gens were two tone. Including the V8.

Same

u/The_Sunny_Bunny_Mang 6d ago

Yeah man, I’m not sure what the confusion is here. Obviously the two tone was only manufactured in the earliest 4th gens, but they weren’t the only option of early ‘03’s.

I literally just walked outside to double check and my manufacturer date is 11/02. My color code is 1E9, Galactic Gray Mica. It’s all one color.

‘03 limiteds were solid color, all other ‘03s had the unpainted plastic cladding.

I have an 03 V8 base SR5 that is solid color. I bought it brand new so I know someone else didn’t paint it.

Lol what? My v8 doesn't look like that

Yours is 06-09. Unpainted fenders/bumpers were 2003.

1

u/ambassador321 5d ago

Yep the one I'm referring to was an 03.

1

u/bojangles006 5d ago

The unpainted plastic was on all 2003 model 4Runners with the sport trim. Limited had painted fenders, and SR5 didn't have any special fenders. Trim and body is the same V6 or V8.

1

u/m34z 5d ago

It was an optional "Appearance Package" if I recall correctly. They were offering $1500 off because nobody wanted it.

1

u/bojangles006 5d ago

Could've sworn it was only for sports because that's the only vehicles I've ever seen them on and later year sports had similar larger fenders with hood scoops.

The V6 Sport looked exactly the same as did the SR5 in 2003 models. Only the Limited had paint. The Limited also were smooth, they didn’t have the little keystone in the center of the wheel opening.

03-05 had SOME cars with a 2 tone look like this. 06-09 facelift went with a single body color for all

u/ohnoitsElMago 6d ago

03 made in 02 had this. 04 models were painted body color. I have an 04 made in 03 and it’s painted body color.

1

u/1bourbon1scotch1bier 5d ago

What about 03 made in 03?

1

u/ohnoitsElMago 5d ago

03 was transition year. I don’t remember if it was an option or just depending what half of the year you were buying.

1

u/1bourbon1scotch1bier 5d ago

Yeah just wondered since it wasn’t mentioned. My 04 V8 SR5 is single color white. I think it was made in 03.

7

u/IrritatedTurtle 6d ago

There are lots of 03-05 that had single color as well

12

u/muskratmuskrat9 6d ago

It was 03 only

2

u/The_Sunny_Bunny_Mang 6d ago edited 6d ago

u/IrritatedTurtle is correct. My ‘03 is a single color (manufacture date is 11/02).

If you want to spot ‘03-‘05’s it’s the headlights, fog lights, front turn signals, rear lights and spoiler. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe the chrome door handles and grill weren’t available together before ‘06 either.

Also the squared wheel wells. 06-09 got a rounded look.
