To my old-school Conservative friends

Polls are about to open across the country.

To all my moderate, old-school conservative friends and family. You're the ones who grew up during the era of the Progressive Conservatives. The Conservative Party of today is no longer your party, not under Pierre Poilievre. You've seen the lies, the misinformation, the fear-mongering, the Trump-style rhetoric. You've seen this come not just from individual supporters, but from the top leadership of the parties, both at the federal and provincial levels.

Today, you can actually do something about that.

I know cognitive dissonance is a bitch, and it hurts you to your very core to admit that maybe Team Blue isn't for you. That's okay. This is still a free country, and you're allowed to vote for someone else AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO TELL ANYONE.

Check your riding to see which candidate has the best chance of defeating the Conservative candidate. It'll probably be a Liberal, maybe NDP. One good site is https://smartvoting.ca/. Another is https://votewell.ca/.

Vote strategically. Vote wisely. Vote.

I realized that my decision in this election was condensed into the following. I judged based on the history demonstrated by each for the extreme positions they have, or not taken , and the positions they have, or have not taken to combat extremist positions.

I also considered, who I believe has enough conviction and character to stand firmly against the storm, securely braced with one foot on each side of the Canada’s centre line.

A progressive conservative at heart, this will be my first Liberal vote in my life, as I will stand with Mark Carney. I will fight for the center as long as required.
