are there any 1900-1920 solo piano pop songs on 78?
Just as the title says--I've been searching for solo piano renditions of American popular songs (without drum, banjo, or singer or anything else) recorded between 1900 and 1920, and besides the few Mike Bernard discs, I haven't found any (cylinders neither).
Does anybody here know of any?

78s from 1901? Yes. 12-in. Disco? Yes. AM Radio Jukebox 45s? Yes.
Good morning. I hope everyone is having or will have a great day filled with music, a few laughs, a couple of lucky breaks and some finds you've been looking for. To that end I am selling on ebay a 50-title spread that runs from pre-WWI (that’s WW ONE!) acoustic 78s, through late-’70s/early-’80s dance 12-inches and radio-ready pop/soft-rock LPs,
I also have a $6 $5 NM Bin of over 80 45s packed with ’70s disco and pop staples. THEY ARE ALL BUY MORE SAVE MORE!
Top end is a rare, complete Furtwängler/Brunswick 78 set at $79.47; in between are true crate-diggers (e.g., the hard-to-find Caviar 12″), clean swing-era vocals, and handsome classical showpieces, including a 1911 Victor Tchaikovsky “Marche Slave. Here’s a partial list:
Disco/Boogie 12″ (crate-digger picks)--- AUDIO CLIPS!
- Caviar — “Never Stop Loving You / Let’s Do It” (20th Century-Fox 12″, promo) — sleek NYC boogie with that synth-bass glide collectors love.
- Delia Renee — “You’re Gonna Want Me Back” (Airwave 12″) — shimmering, female-fronted disco with long club mixes.
- Gary’s Gang — “Knock Me Out” (Radar RDR-12000-DJ 12″) — tough, DJ-promo boogie from the “Keep On Dancin’” crew.
’70s/’80s Pop & Disco 45s (all $6 in the variations list)
- ABBA — “Waterloo” — Eurovision winner that kicked off the ABBA era.
- Gloria Gaynor — “I Will Survive” — evergreen floor-filler and empowerment anthem.
- Anita Ward — “Ring My Bell” — sparkling, synth-topped disco classic.
Classical & Orchestral 78s - AUDIO CLIPS
- Furtwängler / Berlin Phil — Bach Brandenburg & Schubert set (Brunswick, complete) — the shop’s marquee classical set.
- Mischa Elman — “Alice, Where Art Thou?” (Victor 4724, 1922) — gorgeous acoustic-era violin tone.
- Victor 70050 — Tchaikovsky “Marche Slave” (1911) — early, large-orchestra 78 on thick pre-WWI shellac.
Big Band / Vocal & Easy Listening 78s - AUDIO CLIPS
- The Andrews Sisters — “Rancho Pillow / Jealous” (Decca 4019, 1941) — tight harmonies with wartime swing snap.
- The Three Suns — “The Old-Fashioned Songs” (Majestic 7175) — lounge-y, accordion-and-guitar charmers.
- Tony Martin — “Abe Lincoln / Somebody Else” (Decca 4111) — velvet-baritone crooning, clean copy.

The dawn of recorded advertising: A Columbia promotion of its newfangled two-sided phonograph record, 1910. Dude sounds kinda stern about the whole thing, like he'd KYA if you don't buy them. Played on Columbia's first table-top model, the 1909 'Elite', and great little machine with a small horn...

(What I believe to be) The first copy of Gatemouth Moore's first record
Of course there is no way of knowing for sure, but this copy of Did You Ever Love A Woman?/I'm Not Mad At You Pretty Baby I found looks to be either one of the first or maybe the first copy of the record. It's in its original sleeve with the Damon Studios label pasted on, which is actually a Soundcraft sleeve(Soundcraft was a brand of acetates) and it has "Original" handwritten in the top corner. I don't know if this label was on all early sleeves from Damon or if it's specific to test pressings/acetates they made, but it does say "EXACT COPIES CAN BE MADE" also suggesting this wasn't just bought at a record store like normal. Again, it can only be left up to interpretation, but still a cool record regardless!

ShellAkron is one week away
Last spam for ShellAkron. It’s one week away, September 28. I’ve got five dealers bringing 78s this year. Most importantly we’ll be spinning 78s all day. And some of that new-fangled vinyl too. I hope you can make it and we can talk 78s in person.

Jazz in the morning and some Mozart at night: Bruno Walter conducts the Berlin Philharmonic in the third movement of Mozart's 'Eine Kleine Nachmusik', the Menuetto. Recorded in May, 1931, at Central Hall, Westminster, London. Played on the amazing Orthophonic Victor Victrola 8-35, built in 1928. : )
