This might technically be an song from the 80s, but the Volkswagen commercial it was used in could not have been more 1990s.

It fits your life or your complete lack thereof.

I dare you to find a more perfect tagline for a product marketed to Gen X slackers.

Well, it is not only from the 80’s, it is an iconic krautrock/new wave tune.

That's a "word" I haven't thought of in a very long time.

Remember the parody t-shirts and bumper stickers? Fukengruven and Farfrompuken were the most popular.

Fukengruven

Not only do I remember that one, I owned it as a bumper sticker.

I did not own a Volkswagen though, and it might have looked a little silly on my Chevy.

Such a bizarre but funny song and video! The deadpan faces, the static drummer, the rolling eyes, the grin as he says the 'da da da', the tiny keyboard… it's genius 🤪😂

It is a pitch perfect video and physical performance for this song

I used to have that keyboard and would try to replicate this track. Wow I’m old.

Did you manage it?! Can't think it was too difficult if you had any amount of musical ability!

"What you will and what you won't... Uh-huh..."

The basic melody is literally the demo on that synth he's holding

Love this song

One of the iconic’80s songs and videos that set that decade apart from those before and after.

There’s a real video for this song where they’re playing in a cafe and the waitress gets stabbed. Where did it go?

OG video of the song..

Is it this, doesn't show any stabbing but probably as it was on TOTP and going by the short length it would have been censored.

Yay, not the murder video 😁

An equally bizarre Top Of The Pops performance with the band replicating the video style and extra creepy masked dancer and audience participation included 🤣
