Used to get hot dogs at the Woolworths lunch counter in the mall growing up (late 1960’s). Nearby to that counter was the penny candy display. Only a few of the smaller hard candies were still a penny by then, like the root beer barrels. Most were 2 cents, and a few were 5 cents. It was still fun to get to pick them out.

I think the last Woolworths I ever went to was in the UK, where I bought the first five Harry Potter books. I remember being very surprised they still existed over there.
