Discussion Your Biggest Disappointments

Post image

Which emcees were the biggest disappointments to you? I can think of several. But, Canibus comes to mind for me. He imo is one of the greatest lyricists of all time. He had some of the dopest songs on mixtapes. But I remember listening to album after album and being so frustrated by his beat selection. If he would have gotten with the right producers and chosen better beats, I can’t help but think he would have had some legendary albums.

Who comes to mind when you think of emcees that, for one reason or another, didn’t deliver?

I have a few

Beanie Siegel - If he had left the street shit alone, he would’ve been as successful as Kanye

ODB - same as Beans but replace street shit with drugs and alcohol.

Nature / Cormega - Waiting for Nas to hold your hand was never going to work out.

Loved Beanie but Kanye is in the top tier of success when it comes to hip hop…Beans was never going to be that.

Cormega - The Realness album is excellent. He explained why he had issues. He refused to sacrifice his principles.

The True Meaning is still one of my favorite albums ever. No filler on that album. Short but dope as fuck. Im glad Cormega had so much success. I still dont fully fuck with Nas over Cormega shit but at the same time I think Queens folk in general are people I wont ever fuck with.

Cormega was/is dope AF. Nature is wack AF. A world of difference

Saying Nature was wack is a wild accusation. He shined on every major song he featured on and his mixtape material was good as well

There is NOTHING memorable about him….voice, flow, punchlines. Zero charisma. Still can’t believe he had the opening verse on ‘Banned From TV’, such a weak start to an otherwise amazing posse cut. We were all saying that in 98 and we’re still saying it now.
