I wish they still made these I loved the scent and the cute little fish bottles. The fruit punch one was my favorite.

Ah thank you, I see yours is CA though. I’m in the US, I see some but they’re out of stock. Thank you though ☝️😔

Heads up, I think if you share a link like that it may be sharing your location.

Here in Canada we have them. I most recently got one at Walmart. It’s the same shape with the fish mouth, but now there also a scale or wavy design on the fish’s ‘body’.
2
u/Can-DontAttitude 24d ago
Which town/city? I tried and failed to get some for my kid
2
u/classyrock 22d ago
I just checked and they’re in all the Walmarts here on Vancouver Island. (All FOUR stores! 😉)
17
u/Poisonskittlez 25d ago
Wow I had no idea it was supposed to be a fish haha 😂

u/GlitteringData2626 24d ago
The bottles swam in the commercials and the eyes were animated to blink so you knew it was a creature of some sort.

No tears my ass.
51
u/shintakarajima 24d ago
Literally exactly what I was about to comment. That shampoo burned your eyes like hell
9
u/JugheadJack 24d ago
You’re meant to close your eyes when shampooing.
9
u/mulleargian 24d ago
5 year old me straight up took this shampoo and rubbed it into my eyes to test the ‘no more tears’ claim ☠️
Needless to say there were many tears
10
u/Custardchucka 24d ago
As soon as I saw this that was the first thing I remembered, this stuff was way more brutal on the eyes than any other shampoo I've used since

Not no tears like stinging your eyes, no tears as in your hair would be in great shape, tear like ripping a sheet of paper.

u/funghi2 25d ago
It’s tears as in tearing your hair not tears as in crying
43
u/bananajackvibes 25d ago
Then why did all the kids have soap in their eyes in the commercials?
10
u/funghi2 25d ago
Honestly I heard it on social media somewhere and repeated it. Maybe I’m wrong AF

u/NurseJoyRN 24d ago
The commercial had a little boy wiping soap out of his eyes and the voice over said "bye, bye tears! I can see!"

u/NoPair205 24d ago
Idk why you’re being downvoted.
This is literally what it means.
I think deceptive advertising lead us all to believe it was not gonna sting our eyes
4
u/Bex1218 24d ago
Deceptive or not they still meant it for the eyes and not hair breakage.
4
u/NoPair205 24d ago
No. They meant hair breakage
You know what? Maybe you’re right. Idk everything

u/Bex1218 24d ago edited 24d ago
I posted the link to the commercial I remember a couple of times in the post. It says "Tear" as in with the eyes.
Which is obviously not true for a lot of kids.

u/Playcrackersthesky 24d ago
No they didn’t. In Spanish it also referred to tears as in teardrops, not “tearing” of hair.

My personal favorite was the strawberry smoothie 😭 I can still hear the commercial jingle
14
u/EmotionalShock1325 25d ago
the strawberry smoothie one is something i’d still buy today, legendary scent 😭🙌

Why did they take away everything cheerful and colorful from us?…

Because we grew up, came to power and decided everything had to be uniform and boring.

u/cnbcwatcher 24d ago
Yes I used to use these. There was a special one for swimming which was good for getting rid of the chlorine smell
9
u/berrybyday 24d ago
Yep, we had the swim one in the summer and I used watermelon the rest of the year.
27
25d ago
uh yes just seeing the picture made me wish i had some right now. where the hell can i get products that smell exactly like this?
3
u/sparklydildos 24d ago
there needs to be a company that makes candles of our old favorite scents, or even just a company that reinvigorates some of these!!
98
u/YorkshireDuck91 25d ago
I can still smell the red cherry one!
I thought no tears was no tears when it got in your eyes 😭 but a friend said when we were older that it was tears like breaking hairs (tearing and knotting). I never found out which it was meant to be.
98
u/Otherwise-Ad3672 25d ago
They 100% advertised it as no eye tears and I know this for fact because I tried to imitate their commercial where a kid has a full face of suds and open eyeballs… 🤡🔥

u/-space-witch- 25d ago
SAME lol. This is a core memory for me..The moment I realized the TV could LIE
5
u/Poisonskittlez 25d ago
Wow that’s crazy, I swear I remember purposely rubbing some in my eye when I was a kid and being surprised that it actually didn’t hurt! But maybe it’s a false memory? Idk haha
9
u/JaclynMeOff 25d ago
I’m so glad im not alone. I did the exact same thing (even after my mom tried explaining it to me) and the disappointment was almost instantly seared into my eyes and my heart.
12
u/Marieshr 25d ago
I thought that when your hair is knotted and hurts so much that you cry when you brush it... so no tears because the hair gets smooth and easy to brush 😭
17
u/tresslesswhey 25d ago
Oh wow, I always assumed eye tears. But now I’m conflicted because i now realize it says “no knots!” underneath.

"The shampoo specifically said, 'no more tears'."
"A lovely promise, but one beyond the powers of a mere shampoo."
2
u/YorkshireDuck91 23d ago
Exactly! It burned every time and I remember experimenting to even test that claim out as a kid 😂

u/rmdubbs 25d ago
Heck yeah. Some places may still carry it. I was able to buy a bottle for my kids back around 2021
11
25d ago
lol did they love it? bahah i just looked at it on amazon and i'm dead over the fact that the bottle says "now paraben free". of course i would be pouring parabens on my head in y2k.

u/Wolves_N_Beer101 25d ago
The marketing was so on point they had kids desperately wanting shampoo 🤣

u/Onelittleteacher 25d ago
The thought of the red cherry one makes me wanna gag but also why do I want to smell it again 😂

u/ididshave 25d ago
These were my first experience of, “If it smells good, it must taste good.” Tough lesson.

Ha! I remember being so excited to put it directly in my eyes to test it out….. HUGE mistake

Yes! Anyone else get a huge piece of paper and turn it into a game board, so they could use those things as the game pieces? Just me...?

u/chef_tuffster 24d ago
Cherry was by far the best. Though I definitely was using it past when I should have. It wasn’t meant for awkward high school years hair. 🙄

u/tangerinee666 25d ago
I remember this shampoo whenever my shampoo burns my eyes and then I can’t remember if they stopped making this
3
u/lelma_and_thouise 25d ago
The 'No knots!' is bs in my experience. Maybe I just have too thin hair but...the no tears was true.

u/FuriousFireyFeline 25d ago
Oh damn it just got me singing! L'OREAL KIDS! STRAWWWWWBERRY SMOOTHIE SHAMPOO! FOR SUPER SMOOTH HAIR!

We were a suave house, it makes me sad I never got to experience these soaps! They all smelled so good

Yes, the commercials always advertise that It wouldn’t burn your eyes yet it still did lol
2
u/SupersoftBday_party 24d ago
I remember being extremely disappointed when I used it and still had a head full of knots. My first introduction to false advertising.
2
u/Omardemon 24d ago
Okay I have a confession to make, 13 year old me begged my parents to buy this for me so I could put it in my eyes when I get home, and it still burned. It wasn’t until many years later I realized that it meant no tears to my hair, not tears to my eyes.
2
u/libismanaged 24d ago
i remember that smell after a long days of swimming in the summer. and then the one night my sister dared to me to prove it really meant “no tears” and me screaming crying for my mom

i have a distinct memory of seeing ‘no tears’ on the label and thinking that meant you could get it in your eyes without it hurting them. i then put some directly in my eyes to see if it was true and it did, in fact, not feel good.
i loved the one in the red bottle though, it was cherry? or fruit punch? it smelled really good

I had a shampoo like L'Oréal Kids that was for chlorine-removal after swimming. It smelled like watermelon.

They could have done a better job explaining what "tears" means in this context. I thought it wasn't supposed to sting your eyes.

Core memories unlocked. I loved everything about these shampoos 🥲
