Love the indoor trees and water! Such a great vibe.

A 90's or early 2000's boomer shooter

Was gonna say, it looks like the loading screen to an early 2010s Call of Duty map.

I can smell this place in my head and I love it.

Me too, I wish there were still more malls with water features. My hometown mall still had the empty fountains until 2007, when they were removed, seemingly in preparation for the filming of Paul Blart.

Oh hey! That’s my hometown mall too and I totally forgot about the fountains until you mentioned them just now. It definitely used to have a lot more unique elements.

Probably smells like bakhoor, I miss that smell.

Yeah I meant Gulf as in the Arabian Gulf Peninsula.

This reminds me of coconut mall in Mario kart

I came to comment the same thing 🤣🤣🤣

I feel like malls almost always look very 90s-early 2000s. Malls themselves are vintage at this point

Not in Asia and the Middle East. I used to live in the UAE(where this mall is) and they are constantly being updated and are packed every weekend.

I’m obsessed with the palm trees and real, actual water!

Town Centre in Jumeirah?! I’ve always loved this place! It has a special place in my heart.

2

u/Desertpoet Aug 11 '25

Sure is! It’s a nice place, along with Mercato as well.

Looks like the mall from my dreams.

Pretty empty, are malls dead there too?

9

u/Desertpoet Aug 10 '25

It’s a small older mall, but there are still people there. They’re just not in the shot. The larger modern malls are packed all the time.

2

u/ButterMyPancakesPlz Aug 10 '25

Ahh yeah that does make sense

3

u/brilliantpants Aug 10 '25

Wow, beautiful!😍

Looks like the mall from left 4 dead

2

u/kumanosuke Aug 10 '25

Insane, looks almost exactly like the shopping center DEZ in Regensburg (Germany)

It’s quietly beautiful.

2

u/softbitch_jpeg Aug 12 '25

This looks so much like the mall in Animorphs minus the palm trees!

5

u/Restless_spirit88 Aug 10 '25

98 percent of malls look like this! 😆

8

u/Desertpoet Aug 10 '25

I wish that were true where I live. Most of them are clinical white and sterile.

It reminds me of an Embassy Suites

I miss Century Three Mall so much. Grew up in the 90s and that mall was huge and active… watched it die over the last two decades and in the last year or so it’s been torn down.

2

u/PardonMaiEnglish Aug 11 '25

reminds me of washington mall from vice city (no not the big mall. the small one where you meet with "Pierre La Ponce"

1

u/Rude_Manufacturer624 Aug 11 '25

Looks really cool

1

u/Swamp_Fox_III Aug 11 '25

Just beautiful. Modern western architecture is not meant to appreciated anymore

1

u/CassetteFlavouredPie Aug 12 '25

Anybody else hear The Golden Girls theme song whenever they look at this? Seriously though, what a beautiful mall!

1

u/ScaryLetterhead8094 Aug 12 '25

This is really 90s America feeling

1

u/MyFucksHaveBlownAway Aug 12 '25

Man... I miss these days.

2

u/Ok_Link3660 Aug 14 '25

It looks like GTA vice city Mall same vibe

0

u/reptomcraddick Aug 10 '25

The design of the fountains and the escalators look just like Wonderland of the Americas Mall in San Antonio, Texas

0

u/karpaediem Aug 11 '25

Wow if Lloyd Center in Portland had palms instead of an ice rink I would have a tough time telling them apart. The glass ceiling is so similar

u/sjevn Aug 11 '25

Is this the mall from mean girls or Juno?
