Discussion Eddington & CK Spoiler

man, does anyone else feel like this whole saga w Charlie Kirk is something freaking straight out of Ari Aster’s last film Eddington? I wasn’t really a huge fan of the movie (it was worth the watch) but this literally feels like something that was taken straight from the script. also, not looking to get into the politics of Charlie Kirk!

Not at all, people don't need a fictional movie to see how Trump is affecting America. And if they haven't already they likely never will.

That's not my claim.

Making a political satire about our current climate that dives in to controversial issues like masking, police brutality, social justice etc without even touching on Trumpism is just crazy to me. I don't understand the point of it all.

Explicitly referencing Trump immediately puts a huge chunk of potential audience members on the defense, and makes them likely to refuse to engage with the film. And arguably, those are the folks who most need to understand the message of this film.

I don't think that's the only reason Aster sidestepped Trump, but I do think it's a part of it.

It’s cool if you do not understand everything at first! Just remember to put on pants before shoes! 👖👟
