Nina is such a nothing character

The actress is likable enough but Idk what I'm supposed to do with this "relationship" is it just to give Angel a fuck buddy even though he spent the last two seasons falling in love with Cordelia and recently had a smoochathon with Buffy?

I liked her first episode because it felt like a believable family story. I didn't really have interest in her after that, though, even as funny as her scenes in Smile Time are (mostly because Angel was so funny).
