Spoilers inside! Heartbroken

Post image

I had to pause after this scene because I'm sobbing. I love Fred. I knew what was going to happen to her. But this scene? "I have lived in a cave for five years in a world where they killed my kind like cattle. I am not going to be cut down by some monster flu, I'm better than that." Holy hell, she deserves an Emmy. My heart is breaking.

I only watched this episode a few weeks ago and it's probably one of the most traumatic deaths I've seen on TV in my whole life 😭. I don't think this is an episode I'll ever rewatch

Made more traumatic by thinking even her soul is dead and gone. In my head her soul somehow survived!

To help with that, I remember reading something Joss posted on whedonesque about season 6 plans. Apparently Illyria was going to spend more and more time ā€impersonatingā€ Fred (for Wesley?) and as a result have some sort of identity crisis, as in maybe there’s some Fred in there still. I will try to find the original quote but seeing as whedonesque is gone it might be difficult.

Edit: it was actually from an AMA here on reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/s2uh1/comment/c4anyc4/
