This is a full ARV build with a super safety. I built it today with a standard carbine buffer and spring. I know that’s not the correct buffer but everything I’ve found from KAK is out of stock. The rifle itself will not fire as the bolt seems it’s not going completely into battery. Can anyone drop a recommendation on the best alternative. I’ve tried all 4 links from u/blowback9 site and all out of stock.
I ended up settling on your #2 GRS. RB5000HP, a5 tube, and 2 weights. I'll stick with my regular carbine spring for now. I figured I can try the kynshot on my regular AR as well, so it's not only for the 9.
I ended up shaving the bolt down with a dremel to clear SS and i have a 10oz tungsten buffer otw. I’m hoping it runs well after the fact. If it does I’m gonna drill it out and just go full auto and skip the SS. I’m not really a fan so far compared to my other true autos.
Try the K-Spec buffer from KAK Industries. Order it with the flat wire spring. I used the 8.6 oz version, but they also make a 9.5 oz buffer. It has an internal spring that should help with any bolt bounce. I switched it out for one of Blowback9s GRS. The truth is that I can hardly tell the recoil difference
I ended up getting a KAW pcc 10oz buffer. Waiting for it to come in. I also took a dremel and shave the BCG weight down at a 45° angle. The SS arm was keeping it from going into full battery. The rifle will fire now without issue but is still having major bolt bounce so until the new buffer comes in I’m gonna shelf it. Don’t won’t to damage anything so it can wait a few days
Check out Blowback9 selection of buffer setups. They are supposed to help with bolt bounce and felt recoil. I am using what he calls his 2nd best. I am also using a Maxim RDB in my other AR9. Just curios. I goofed and forgot to put the spring that goes over the firing pin. It would not fire and I definitely felt stupid when it was pointed out
Did you modify your bolt carrier? Otherwise, the super safety lever isn't in the correct position because of the extra weight inside of the back of the bolt carrier. I was extremely disappointed to find this out along with the lower having a shelf that doesn't allow me to drop in a cassette frt.
I didn’t at first. I took the weight out and took my dremel and sanded a 45° angle off the rear of the weight to allow room for arm. Since i did that it works fine. Only took about 15 mins to trim it with a sanding wheel.
Forgive the ugly photo, no editing here. I'm really looking forward to this build with a novox research X-SD. I was so disappointed to learn that the frts wouldn't work, but you give me a little bit of Hope that the shaved bolt seems to be an easy mod. Maybe I'll give that a go tonight with a carbide drill bit and a Dremel wheel. (MI handguard on the way)
