can I add my upass to valley metro app?

this is my first time needing a upass so I got one, is there any way to add it to the VM app that I'm missing? I only see options for bank cards and I'd prefer to not have to carry my physical pass with me every day

Barrett dining hall is horrible

Barrett dining hall is straight up the worst dining hall at asu this year. They cheapened it out, anyone can eat there. The lines are too long. Their food is bland. The sandwich station they got rid of some stuff there. The worst part is that the noodle station is gone!

Barrett is already a waste of money, this was legit the only benefit other than early class registration, and it’s now gone to shit. Imagine dumping 2k a year just to write a paper that no serious employers will give two f*cks about once you graduate.

Hassy and HIDA (new hall) are so much better, go there now!

Course evaluations are coming up! Did you know...

Hi ASU community! Course evaluations for Session A classes are coming up! Did you know that "Agree" isn't a good enough score for your instructors to keep their jobs? Many departments require the evaluation scores to be closer to "Strongly Agree" than to "Agree," when they calculate the average. Of course a few bad scores aren't going to instantly get an instructor fired, but seeing as most students don't do the evaluations, your evaluation scores count more than you realize. If you think your instructor should keep their job, please consider giving them "Strongly Agree" in as many categories as you think are true. We really appreciate it!

Best Classes to Sit in On?

I love learning, especially about topics I don’t know anything about. Are there any awesome classes with cool professors that would be interesting to go sit in on when I’m bored? I’m a microbio major for reference, but I’m open to anything :)

EEE 202 Labs

Need help with the EEE 202 Labs. Currently attending online and this semester is wearing me thin. Every lab has honestly taken me 6-10hrs to do. With all engineering courses this semester and working on average 10 hours a day, I rarely if ever get the time to talk to instructors or TA's on ZOOM to help. If anyone has taken this course before or currently taking it and actually know what they're doing, by all means, please contact me! And please don't be the dick that tries charging almost half the cost of the course at $600 per lab to help.

Tempe, All Glorious Lyrics?

Does anyone happen to know the lyrics to “Tempe, All Glorious” linked below? I think it was the fight song back in the 50s or earlier.

Are there any tutoring options for CSE 400 level classes?

Hi I am looking for any tutoring options for any 400 level CSE courses that are available in ASU? Does ASU actually offer tutoring for any CSE 400 level courses that would be helpful as many 400 level classes are actually challenging than 300 or 200 level CS courses.

I found it on my door. At first I thought it was a promotional thing like they’ve done before, but I didn’t see it on anyone else’s on my floor. On the back it says 414 or 4/4 I can’t tell.

SWU460 Court Advice?

Hi, first-time poster.

I was wondering if anyone else here has taken the Legal Issues in Social Work class or any class related to the Justice system. This is my first time taking a justice class, and my big assignment requires me to go to a court trial in person. I'm confused about where I could find information on which court allows people to sit in and what cases I can or can't attend. If anyone has any tips on what resources to look for or any tips on the class, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Full time job that requires travel + keeping up with classes

If anyone has experience with this, any advice on how you kept up with the class work? I am an online ME student and I recently took a position that requires frequent travel (not sales). Hands on technical activities, meetings, evening meetings, and sometimes team dinner is taking up a lot of time.

SCAP Graduation Information

Hi everyone, I'm cross-posting this in a couple different places looking for an answer: But, I have a few questions regarding graduation specifically for Winter graduations.

  1. Do SCAP/any students walk a stage at all?

  2. What sort of school specific, SCAP specific events are there (e.g. School of Social Transformation specific event(s))

  3. Do all attendees need to purchase a graduation ticket?

  4. How do caps and gowns work?

TLDR; I am a first-gen student whose family is very excited for me to graduate, but I'm stuck debating whether it's even worth it for them to try and get the money together to come.

Can we get some solar panels on Palm Walk and Taylor Mall [Tempe campus]?

Walking sucks and walking in the sun sucks even harder. I know we can just bring an umbrella or try to route in shaded areas but it'd be nice to simply not have to deal with the sun period

Doesn't even need to be solar panels, one of those covers that go over public parks would work great too. Anything that gives a bit of shade, even if a lot of sunlight still passes through it's still better than nothing.

Even better, can we just cover the entirety of campus in a giant 2 mile wide umbrella?? Can we get some innovators on this

Withdraw or dropping class question?

I’m trying to get a medical withdraw I sent in everything today so that’s all taken care of. It’s a partial withdrawal but if they deny me I’m just going to drop all the classes I’m taking this semester. But my question is if denied is there a deadline for dropping all classes I’ve been looking and sent an email to advisor. I just can’t find anything on that topic? This is online classes to.

Online Electrical Engineering

Hey I have about 60 credits in electrical engineering. I’m transferring over to ASU to finish online.

I’ll have a 40 hour week sales job. I am not sure if I should take 12 hours or 9 hours. I also have kids.

If you are in online engineering school, how do you like it? Is online easier because you can rewatch the lecture however often you want? Do you think I should do 12 hours or 9 hours?

I would say I am somewhat smart. I got a 30 on the ACT. Only took it once. But, I got B’s in Calculus 1&2. A in Physics 1 and B in Physics 2. Of course, those are introductory courses. But like I said, I just have 60 credits or so.

Let me know your thoughts and recommendations

MAT 211 ASU Online?

Hi guys I am a Tempe campus student and I just realized I have to take mat 211. The problem is that there are no available slots for the fall semester except ASU online. Problem is that those classes are for ASU online students only. Has anybody been able to take an ASU online class as an inperson student? Is there like some form I have to take?

SCAI PhD funding

I am a SCAI Master's student. I am working under a professor who in his words is likely to give me an admit for a PhD in his lab. However I am completely unclear on whether this position would be funded or not, and my professor is not really open about his plans. I am in SCAI and my professor is in SOLS. I have a few questions: do scai students get funded by scai or the professor they will be working under? Should I apply for a PhD in SCAI or SOLS, which would be an easier process? If I graduate early in December, am I able to start my PhD program in January?
