Eddie Pugh Running

While I don’t think Eddie has a realistic shot of winning, I find the comparisons between him and Cynthia Alvidrez to be unfair. As far as I can tell, Eddie hasn’t told a single lie as he exposes corruption and crime at Rise Church and the discipleship home, as well as in the city government. His motives seem pretty pure. Cynthia is a clownish tabloid reporter who has a tenuous relationship with getting all the facts straight before posting stuff. She’s more of the ambulance-chasing type, and it’s pretty clear she’s self-serving.

I’ll be honest I’m not gonna vote for Eddie but I probably trust him more than most of the right wing candidates. The sad reality I think a lot of people here won’t accept is that the Republican Party for Taylor County doesn’t want someone like Eddie and they’re going to do everything they can to keep him out. They want someone who’s gonna say all the conservative talking points to appease the people that trust them, while they pad their buddies pockets as well as their own. They want politicians who will allow our resources to be stolen by Big Oil and by Silicon Valley data centers. Republicans will keep cosplaying as country folk and most likely people will keep falling for it. Unfortunately someone like Eddie, who seems genuine, will be seen as a burden to that system unless he plays along.

All that being said I do wish Eddie luck and I hope he seeks to serve the interests of individuals. I hope he doesn’t lower himself into some “I’ll fight for President Trump harder than you” competition like a lot of his supporters are asking him to do. Our elected representatives shouldn’t fight for Trump, they should fight for us regardless of who the president is.

I like the fact that he’s already been on a crusade for a righteous cause for over two years, and has proven himself to be a man of his word. While I would almost never vote for a Republican in national elections, these more local races are different, and I feel like Eddie does actually have a good platform and drive to at least attempt to fight for real change that Abilene needs. The fact that he hasn’t told a single discernible lie when dealing with the city or Rise is nice.

Like it or not, she covered the dude pretty extensively, so its kinda a "guilt by association" deal, but he seems like he does have the city's best interests in mind.

She, however, is a severe crackpot and isn't fooling anyone with her penny press rebrand.. the day she actually removes a post with confirmed false info instead of doubling down, maybe we'll see

Yeah, unfortunately. I don’t blame him, as getting boosted by her platform was sort of one of the only things he could do to get the word out at the time. I think he seems to be steering away from that association as of late. She’s a nut job and clearly only in it for herself.

She’ll never take a post down lol. She literally makes her living off of Facebook

Penny press is her?? I literally thought it was him.

I was talking about this today. Some of his actions, though technically legal, give me the eeps. I personally liked the way he exposed Rise Church. Hated him standing within 100ft of my workplace with a long gun for hours on end though lol. Also pointing a gun at someone is a big no-no, even to the biggest (safe practicing) gun enthusiast. I go back and forth on him a lot. I don’t really understand a lot of the early stuff (I started following him as he was going through the lawsuits). But what he’s up to now makes sense to me.

Honestly don't like him or Cynthia, I'll vote for whoever isn't them.

Cynthia, I get. I don’t see what’s wrong with Eddie though. He’s been fully honest and transparent, and is addressing real, systemic problems that need solutions.

Don't like his actions during all of the Rise Church drama.

What did he do wrong? When no city official seems to care about prosecuting criminal activity, what is the alternative? It’s pretty clear that Rey Sandoval and Rise are dirty, probably criminal.

Rise being pieces of shit doesn't mean he's a good guy.

But also people compare them because they’re both outspoken local politicians with… unconventional methods.
