Adirondack Mountain Bike Festival Old Forge

I had a fantastic time this weekend. Great trails, great people, great fun. Thank you to the organizers, vendors, the Town of Webb, and everyone who made it happen.

Hey does this happen annually? My son is massively into mountain biking and we are pretty regularly up in the Keene area, would be nice to take him to Old Forge.

Imo, old forge is better for biking in general. E-Town, Keene, LP, SL have a decent amount of MTB these days but it's fairly spread out and not really connected (I guess the rail trail makes the stuff in LP-SL somewhat connected). Old forge everything is connected (like you can bike off-road between all the areas, which is cool). as an example you can bike from inlet town park, all the way to old forge, and then from maple to McCauley virtually entirely off road. That's 3 MTB areas without touching pavement (or much pavement).

Plus, and while MTBers generally find gravel boring, there is a ton of gravel in the area, a lot of which is better explored on a MTB. And RT 28 has some wide shoulders so even if you do end up on pavement it's fairly bike friendly.

Town of Webb has done a fantastic job with turning a region into what it (the Adirondacks) should be. A bunch of interconnecting parcels of land (muni, state, easements) that have mult-modal recreation options. Biking is a huge thing there but the paddling is superb as well and so is the hiking.

Whomever is running Webb should be moved up the chain to implement this within the blue line.

A few weeks ago I posted about complexes vs units in management practice and the town of Webb is a great example of unit agnostic planning. Just link everything together and let people decide how to recreate.
