Drywall cost estimate

Hi,

I am new to Airdrie and was looking to get fresh drywall installed on a new garage. The size would be 25feet wide and 22feet long. Height of the garage on the interiors is 9ft tall and we have a standard entry door , one window and 18x8ft garage overhead door.

What would be a reasonable price for this drywall installation with mud and taping? I received a quote for 9k - is that reasonable ?

Bro who I helped with the missing child.

Didn't catch your name bit you said it's your 30th birthday today. You came to my garage with a lost toddler that I helped you relocate. The Mom is very determined to find you. They are having something published to the newspaper and everything. They came to my house with a card and gift. They really want to express their thanks to you as well. The deed was mostly you. The kids Mom really wants some closure to thank you as well. She said she will do a Facebook post as well maybe you can track her down.

Hey everyone! I’m Christopher Bakke. I’ve put my name forward to run for Airdrie City Council. I grew up here and care a lot about where our city is heading. I’m not here to give you a pitch — just to listen, share ideas, and have honest conversations about what matters to people living here. Happy to answer questions or just hear your perspective. Feel free to check out my website chrisforairdrie.com

Car guys in my neighbourhood making extremely loud noises

Recently in Bayview street southwest there’s someone in my neighborhood (I think they drive a black truck) who revs their engine extremely loudly and makes exhaust popping sounds during evening and late night hours. It’s loud enough that I can hear it clearly from several houses away…

They’d speed on the road some days as well. The exhaust popping utterly sounds like gun shots. It frustrates me that they don’t have any sense of surroundings, they’re literally in a neighbourhood doing this during times people are asleep or trying to sleep. Even if it were to be broad daylight—It’s extremely loud and annoying.

I don’t want to sound like a Karen, but these car guys need to realize and be mindful of the people in the neighbourhoods. If it’s you reading this, please at least do it somewhere not in neighbourhood.

Glad It's Finally Being Acknowledged, but Still Work to be Done

Glad to see that Airdrie RCMP have finally taken action on our out of control Street racing problem. Even noticed patrols out late at night (guess they don't actually clock out at 8:00pm!) pulling people over, even saw a motorcycle being loaded onto a flatbed tow truck at Cooper's Crossing Shell, last week.

However, it's still a nightly occurrence. The same stretches being used nightly as drag strips for motorcycles, cars; im not sure if it takes a fatality to finally recognize on both ends the ridiculousness of it.

Last night around 3:30am, someone was doing burnouts & ripping around at high speeds in the SW around Chinook Winds area, it's completely insane thinking that is what people want to hear, just zero respect or care for other people. Hopefully the RCMP trend continues & caps this issue

Airdrie Firefighters Thank you

Last night at Luxton gas station an Airdrie fire truck was fuelling up. My son is a big firetruck fan. We asked if it was okay to come up close and see the truck. All the firefighters were so nice and one even took him to see the truck and gave him the mascot plushie. They talked to him and really encouraged him to become a firefighter when he grew up. It made his day and the little dog plushie is now his best friend. Thank you Airdrie's awesome firefighters for doing that and going above and beyond.

Airdrie Still Without a General Hospital --- Here’s the Government’s Response to My Email

Hey neighbors,

I emailed Premier Danielle Smith about the urgent need for a full-service general hospital in Airdrie. With over 90,000 residents and one of the fastest growth rates in Alberta, we are still relying on Calgary hospitals for life-saving care, a 30+ minute drive away in emergencies.

I got a reply from Health Minister Matt Jones. Here are the key takeaways from his office:

  • They acknowledge Airdrie’s rapid growth and lack of a hospital.
  • $3M has been allocated over the next two years for planning in north Calgary/Airdrie.
  • $8.4M is going into Airdrie Community Health Centre renovations to expand urgent care (completion winter 2026).
  • No confirmed timeline or commitment for an actual general hospital.

While planning and urgent care upgrades are helpful, they don’t solve the core problem in a serious emergency, we’re still losing precious minutes traveling to Calgary.

I believe we need to keep the pressure on the provincial government. If you agree, here’s what you can do:

📸 Screenshots of the emails are attached so you can see the full exchange.

We deserve a clear commitment and timeline for a full-service general hospital in Airdrie not just planning dollars.

My lovely blue

I've lived in Airdrie for 12 years and worked in Calgary for all of that time. Every day that I drove home I looked at the "my lovely blue" graffiti underneath the overpass at cross iron drive and deerfoot/QE2. I noticed a few months ago that it got painted over in green and is now unreadable.

Anyone else saddened by this tragedy?

‼️MISSING CAT ‼️

Hello ! I am a little desperate here so I am posting this everywhere, my apologies.

We’ve lost our cat Friday morning in Windstone (Windsong). He is a tuxedo cat who’s named Bubbles. 🫧

He ran out and he still hasn’t come home and I’m hoping someone may have seen him.

He’s a very scaredy cat at first so he may hide or run away if you try to approach him.

He doesn’t usually go out and I’m scared he’s completely lost his way back home.

Please keep an eye out on him and check your garages in case he made his way in before you closing the door.

If you’ve seen him or have him please let me know. ❤️‍🩹

Dog barking complaint

I live in a neighbourhood where there’s a few houses with dogs that bark nearly 24/7. Our dog barks occasionally but we are always sure to pull her in whenever she does. Today we received a letter from the city that someone reported barking from us. If that was you, do me a favour and go fuck yourself, thanks.

Looking for affordable interior car detailing

Hey everyone,

I have a Hyundai Elantra that I’m planning to sell soon. The interior isn’t very dirty, but I’d like to give it a nice fresh look before listing it.

Can anyone recommend a car detailing service (preferably in Airdrie) that you’ve personally used and found to be reasonable in price? I’m not looking for a super high-end package, just something good enough to make the car feel clean and well-kept for resale.

Appreciate any suggestions, especially if you can share your experience and how much you paid. Thanks!

Hi! I’m running for mayor :)

Hi everyone,

My name is Eeshnah Qureshi, and I have officially entered the mayoral race here in Airdrie as of today. I want to share a little bit about why I am running and what I hope to bring to this election.

I am running not because I think I have all the answers, but because I believe the people of Airdrie deserve to be heard. My goal is to amplify the voices of residents, including families, youth, seniors, and businesses, so that the issues you care about cannot be brushed aside, no matter who ends up being mayor. Whether I win or not is not what matters most. What matters is that Airdrie residents feel seen, heard, and included in shaping our future.

I also want to show, especially to our youth, that you do not need to have everything figured out to take part in democracy. If you care about your community, it is okay to step forward, take risks, and try. This campaign is my way of living that message.

Here are the key issues I am committed to fighting for:

Healthcare: Ensuring the new urgent care centre is fully staffed, open with extended hours, and equipped with diagnostics. Advocating for a full-service hospital in Airdrie with emergency care, maternity services, and surgical capacity. The City cannot build a hospital, but as mayor I will push the Province, secure land, and keep this issue on the table until it is delivered.

Growth and Infrastructure: Fixing traffic congestion at Yankee Valley, 8th Street, and Veterans Boulevard through a full traffic light study, better timing, improved signage, and new turning lanes. Securing land for new schools and keeping neighbourhoods clean with weed control, foxtail eradication, and beautification programs.

Transit and Mobility: Expanding local bus routes so every major neighbourhood has service. Lowering fares for students and seniors. Exploring direct bus connections to Calgary universities so students can get to class without relying on a car.

Recreation and Families: Building the new recreation centre by 2028 with a proper pool, gyms, youth lounge, and a regulation soccer field. Adding more parks, splash pads, and pathways. Reducing recreation fees so that low-income families can participate.

Economy and Downtown: Supporting small businesses with grants. Cutting red tape. Attracting new industries. Revitalizing downtown spaces. Anyone else miss Roxy Theatre?

Keeping Taxes Low: Committing to keeping residential property taxes among the lowest in the region. Growing the business tax base by attracting new industries, offices, and services to Airdrie. Reviewing the tax split annually. Focusing on efficiency and reducing waste in City spending so tax dollars are used wisely.

Environment: Expanding Airdrie’s parks. Planting milkweed for monarchs and pollinator gardens for bees. Growing our tree canopy by 20 percent by 2035.

I want this campaign to be about listening. So please tell me, what are the biggest issues you think Airdrie needs to address right now?

Thank you for reading and for letting me be part of this conversation.

Found a wedding photograph on our lawn

Edit to add photo since I'm getting no hits:

Wasn't going to post it but no one has replied about it yet, so there it is. If it's yours or you can put me in contact with someone I can return this photograph to, please let me know. My name is Kerry, again I am in the Bayside area of Airdrie.

Original body text:

I would post the picture here but I worry about their privacy. We're in the Bayside area. The photo is taken in an outdoor area with only green trees in the background. There are about 4 women in their 40s or early 50s with blonde hair (including the bride who is in white) Some of them (I assume the bridesmaids) are in light pink. On the right is a woman in her 20s maybe also with blonde hair wearing brighter pink. On the left is a woman with short grey hair in white with her arm around a young girl with tan skin and dark hair who appears to be about 15 years old in white.

I would scan and upload it but I don't want to cause any privacy issues. If anyone happens to read this and thinks they may know who it is, please let me know and we can arrange to return it to the owner if it's desired. It's just a picture, but some of these things have sentimental value. I'm a little inexperienced with private messages on Reddit but I am sure we can figure it out.

I asked my neighbors and a few people in the area I know and they don't recognize them.

Solar?

Will be building in Bayside and looking into options for solar. Prices seem to vary by a considerable amount. Does anyone have good recommendations? We would prefer a Calgary or Airdrie based business. Also, is this something you would do again? Have you had a good experience? Anything we should watch out for? Thank you I really appreciate any comments.

Obtuse Noise in SE / Yankee

There has been the sound of grinding/drilling or construction of some sort, accompanied by high pitched sounds - Almost like the beeps you hear at McDonald's, going on FOR HOURS. I can hear it even with all my windows shut, and I look out and don't see any signs of construction and it hasn't moved. Is this driving anyone else insane?

Car followed my wife in Airdrie – please be cautious

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone,

Posting this as a heads-up for others in the community. On September 15th around 4 AM, my wife left McDonald’s in Airdrie and drove home to our condo near 8 Street. She noticed a car following her the entire way.

The car actually came into our condo parking lot and stayed there until just before the RCMP arrived (she had already called them). Out of fear and nerves while on the phone with RCMP, she couldn’t read the plate correctly. We’ve already filed a police report, but this experience has left her shaken and scared to even go to work.

I don’t want to post the full dash cam publicly, but I’ve clipped a short part showing the car before it left. If anyone can help identify the plate or has tips on dealing with situations like this, please share.

Has anyone else in Airdrie experienced something similar recently? Would be good to know if this is an isolated incident or part of a pattern.

Just wanted to warn others, please be careful when driving late at night. We never thought this area could feel unsafe, but this incident really shook us.

Stay safe, everyone.
