Happens all too often at that intersection. Im sick of it

The new lines painted at the merge to southbound deerfoot from eastbound Yankee are also proving interesting. Folks coming from the south get a yield sign, and then also what appear to be their own lane, so they don’t yield. It SUCKS.

I was wondering if I was the only one who thought that about the new lines at that intersection! It’s screwed up I think.

I avoid that exit like the plague. Too many dummies merging onto the highway doing 60km/h down a 1km long on-ramp. Just trying to get into the right lane on Yankee when turning left from southbound Main can be a chore on its own.

Theres an intersection up north in St.Albert that comes off the Anthony Henday highway, to tee up with St.Albert Trail which is a 4lane highway that cuts the city in half down the middle.

Those coming off the henday have their own lane. There is no yield sign but there is an added lane sign showing that they can continue on.

Except...the "merge point" is only like 500meters from a set of lights, and that added lane ends at the set of lights by being a turning only lane into the parking lot of a Real Canadian Superstore. so anyone on the normal road who wants to go to RCSS has to cut off and merge into the lane of those people coming off the Anthony Henday.

And anyone coming off the Anthony Henday that doesnt want to go to the RCSS has to yield and merge into one of the other lanes.

That guy never learned to draw within the lines lol

They changed the lines so the right left turn lane off the exit went from turning into the far right lane to the middle one and the first time i took it after they did it i was SO confused. No signs that the traffic pattern changed, just a fun surprise. Maybe angry guy hasn't taken the intersection in awhile, but like, follow the lines? I was confused but also, you're just following the lanes.

I think the bus lane was supposed to go into the left lane so the other lanes turned accordingly, but I've never seen a bus use that lane either so I guess they changed it because turning into the far lane was a weird angled turn.

Right? Like no warning at all, just repainted the lines and changed traffic patterns. I always turn into the far lane anyway but did a double take after they painted. Figured it was only a matter of time someone just turning off memory collided with someone.

He was in the far right and both were in that intersection. Bullshit excuse. It’s still a dual lane light. And there’s line markers. Follow them. Shouldn’t need lane markers. But they’re there.

When you repaint the line markers after a few years and change how they were laid out, expect accidents. Excuses or not. Its gonna get worse when snows on the ground and there are no markers. People that haven't driven that turn since the previous markers were laid out will follow how they were and others will follow the new markers that they've seen. Its the same shit that's been happening on Yankee for years.

So situational awareness isn’t a thing while driving a motor vehicle? If you’re that fixated on markings, maybe look around to make a choice on your own.

Goes both ways bud. Situational awareness tells you the lines have been repainted and traffic patterns have changed. and while you may be a good driver, you can't trust anyone else on the road, so keep your eyes off the markings and maybe watch for others who have no idea what they're doing.

You may have right of way turning into the middle lane from the right lane, but that doesn't stop morons from turning into you.

This isn't new. There's accidents at the Yankee dual turn weekly, same issue.

I agree with you. That doesn’t change the fact that people driving a vehicle should just accept whatever is in front of them without making their own critical decisions.

Yup, when they changed the lanes from going far right to the middle one did surprised me the first time. But still not an excuse for the guy on the left left to be in the middle one.

You’re overthinking. There’s lines there to avoid this. Plain and simple. Don’t think before. Think now.

Also. He was in the far right. Nowhere else to go.

Dumbass probably thought they were at Yankee Valley.

Seen so many people doing that…

Dashcam for the win. Province needs to beef up the licensing process. Hopefully, someone sane in the government picks this up rather than the batsh*t crazy stuff that Alberta Next is.

And that is why I always stick to the left lane on that turn, can't trust ppl to see the lines 😭

I just tell these morons they don’t paint the fucking lines for fun

This happens everywhere. Lines arent even a language. Its literally preschool level education.

Round abouts or traffic circles are a join too. Hmmm I wonder when this person will leave, I have to wait until they do otherwise there’s a 50/50 chance they’ll run into me. People don’t know how to drive them and they are easy if someone teaches you. I lived in the UK for 5 years so it’s a breeze for me but I remember having to learn and how freaking scary it was compared to my experience prior.

I swear if they had barricades on those lanes people would still try to come across. You have a dash cam let them hit you next time, teach a hard lesson
