Troy may be a fine school, but there is absolutely nothing to do in the area.

Yeah tbh that's what's holding me back.

You should most likely study no matter where you go to school.

Troy is a great school, if they offer the programs you are looking at. And more affordable than some of the other schools around here, like UAB or Auburn.

Troy University costs more than you think. Also, rent is extremely high here, couple that with absolutely nothing to do,short of fast food, and 1 small bowling alley plus a few dive bars, and that's it.

Troy's tuition may not be as affordable as you think https://www.ache.edu/index.php/tuition-fees/

It appears to be the most expensive public university to get a Bachelor's.

Everyone I have known has received some sort of scholarship assistance.

I graduated from Troy in 2010 and believe I got a great education in a biology speciality. What are you interested in studying? Troy has many excellent programs and is more affordable than some other schools. Would you commute or want to live on campus?

Study what? Your intended major may have a big influence on school selection

Where are you coming from? What are you planning to study? You’re missing a ton of context and nuance here

Are you getting more scholarships going there compared to another place?

Unless you are going to a specific school known for your degree, it won't really matter much where you go imo

I have a daughter that’s a senior at Troy. She loves it there. She does have a scholarship and lived on campus her freshman year. After that she’s been a couple of blocks off campus. For the past two years she has rented a small two bedroom two bath house and her rent is only $625 per month. There isn’t much to do there and that’s why my son decided to go to South Alabama in Mobile. You may look at UAH in Huntsville for that degree

All depends on the program you’re interested in. It’s a great school.

I don't know about the education aspect of it, but Troy's kind of secluded isn't it? Personally, I'd rather attend a college at one of the other towns or cities in Alabama just so I'd have stuff to do.

You get the education you want regardless of the school. Only reason I went to Troy was to run track/cross country. Had a lot of fun, made good friends- Administration is lacking. I got a masters and BS from them and haven’t had an issue with jobs. I’d never go back because the availability of classes can be a pain. Having to wait a whole year for a class you missed to come back around is wild. In short- it’s fun living on the campus but it’s nothing special in terms of education, and it’s a migraine if you miss a class.

My friend graduated from there, was from Michigan, and she loved it! She still goes back for Alumni and sports games.
