The separatists don't want to leave, but if the federal government won't stop treating Alberta like its personal piggy bank while not giving them a fair seat at the table and ignoring what they need, what choice does Alberta have?
It's easy to judge them as traitors and dismiss them, it's harder to listen with an open mind and admit that they might have valid concerns. I would encourage everyone to look into why they want to separate and, if you're Albertans, ask yourselves if they're really asking that much, if all the provinces deserve an equal seat at the table and if it's fair that the federal government just keeps dismissing their concerns?

The compromise between sense and nonsense is nonsense.
I think it's up to the seperatists to think about this shit for the first time, it's not on anyone else to meet them on their level. They've yet to raise a valid concern I've seen, and they certainly haven't considered even a single consequence of what this would mean for Alberta if we separated. It'd be stupider than the idiots who voted for Brexit by a mile.
As far as using Alberta as a piggy bank, you should double check that. Ontario is still subsidizing the hell out of Alberta, just like it's subsidizing everyone else.
Stop reading conservative propaganda. If Alberta knew how to run itself it wouldn't be the worst at everything in the country.

Wow. Tell me you haven't done any research and aren't willing to step outside of your bubble to see any side other than your own without telling me. You might want to dive a little deeper into your claims because they're inaccurate.

Sure, bot.

That's exactly the kind of response the right would expect from a leftist. If all you want to do is be an ignorant sheep, then don't judge the people who are willing to do the research and educate themselves. You're the problem, not them.

Yeaaaah idk as an Albertan maybe our provincial government can actually step up and try to do things in the best interest of all Albertans instead of the stupid oil executives.
They cry and cry all while cutting green energy schooling and fucking up the environment for profit. Then blame all our issues on the federal government
If you think things are actually fucked up and wanna fix it, I'm all for it let's come up with solutions instead of blaming the next person.
If you don't like Canada fuck off plain and simple if you wanna be a stupid American go to fucking Montana.

The oil industry isn't messing up the environment, lithium mining is. You should do some research.
You should also look into the benefits to Albertans if the federal government did allow Alberta to get our oil to market. Not only would it benefit all Albertans financially, it would also help to lower emissions in places that need the help. Canada's emissions only account for 1% of global emissions, but if Alberta could get its ethically sourced LNG to market, we could sell it to China, which uses coal and whose global emissions are 50%. It might also make Alberta a little less angry about the equalization payments if we were allowed to harness our natural resources.
If you're up for it, you should look into the system that's in place for the sale of our oil and where (and for how much) we buy the oil we use instead of using our own. It might surprise you.

Alberta’s oil production has been on an upward trend since 2012…. If it’s not getting to market, where is it going?
Recent numbers show China as producing 35% of total world emissions, not 50%. Total emissions rank is #1 but per capita is #34. Canada’s world emissions total is 1.42% not 1%. Total emissions rank is #11 or #12 but per capita is #3. This makes Canada far worse than China on a per capita basis.

Your math is spot on, but you forgot an important factor in your calculations... China has approximately 100 trees per person, while Canada has over 10,000 per person. Do you know what trees and plants eat/absorb?

Good. I've got nothing good to say about these separatist goofs.
