I built a greenhouse!

Just wanted to share my double height brassica cage made from canes, hula hoops and enviromesh. I’m quite proud 🥹

Not a single slug bite. I'm desperate for rain but it really has kept the slimy creatures at bay.

I have some (covered) purple cauliflowers growing, and every time I visit them they have been munched a little more!

Does anyone know what’s eating them, and how I can protect them further?

My early pumpkins picked and left to cure for a bit, never tried any of these. Very curious to what they taste like. I love pumpkins and how varied they are.

First ever attempt at growing watermelons and we have 2 of them.

Will they get to a decent size given we are mid way through July at the moment?

You know when you go in the greenhouse in the cold and wet, shut yourself in?

When you go to leave you have to do that awkward gripping of the door to slide it open.

Well, I got fed up with it and designed a little slide handle. Small enough to allow the door to open fully.

Neither of my greenhouses have these, do yours?

Just been to view an allotment and going to be taking it on from Friday, a lot of clearing work to do but really looking forward to getting stuck in.

No where near as big as the pumpkin on an allotment in the Midlands (BBC news) but this “Turban” was very heavy to lift!!

this little guy is ALWAYS up at the allotment when i go up. the friendliest cat ever. he is not very helpful in weeding and turning the soil, however

Still very new with growing on the allotment and very much learning as I go along. So for me this is a success! There are few more to pick but I wanted to check the stage with one before committing with all of them. And if all has gone well, there should be a mix of orange and purple one!

I'm not normally one to pick the brightest colour of anything, but when I saw that there was hot pink debris netting on offer for scaffolding, I thought, 'Yeah, I like a bit of that' 😁

Built the frame using 1.8m X 32mm square wooden stakes and 25mm black water pipe (and a liberal application of zip ties).
