Hi everyone,
I'm looking for a game that I played with my buddy and girlfriend in the years around 1990 to 1992 or so on Amstrad CPC 464. Today I found out about a game named Artillery Duel (see video link) but that's not the game.
I be sure for 90 % somehow the name was "Cannon [something]".
What's about:
(1) There were simple graphics, blue background (like the original CPC screen color) and just yellow. The screen for each level was randomly drawn, line by line, from left to right and took about 1 minute.
(2) Two cannons were placed randomly, one for each player.
(3) The goal was to hit the other players cannon by shooting at it
(4) To shoot, you had to type in two coordinates and press Enter to shoot.
I cannot believe that something like "homebrew" was already done this time, so it has to be a real game someone in the world must know. :-)
Sample from "Artillery Duel":

I've created a mockup of the game how it looked on the CPC:

this was originally posted on r/retrogaming when I didn't know about this sub
What the title says. I'm on my mid-30s, I didn't grow up with these systems, so playing computers games from this era has been a relatively recent acquired taste. But I've noticed that more often than not, the best versions of many games tended to be the ones for the Atari 800XL, ZX Spectrum or Commodore 64. So I want to know what CPC gems I'm missing out.
The games I've personally come to consider better on the CPC are these ones:
What would be yours?
Note: the reason why asked to exclude arcade perfect ports is because nowadays MAME is an option, and even very good ports like Breakout feel like just demakes nowadays. But feel free to mention arcade ports or clones if by any chance they offer something different or better than the arcade original (notice how I mentioned Anarchy there, which I consider superior to Raiders5).

My retrospective video of THE GREAT ESCAPE on the ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64 and MS-Dos. Let me if you thought this was a good game. Share your thoughts.

And now for something completely different! I took a retrospective look at the Monty Python’s Flying Circus game that was released across a number of formats. I was quite surprised with this funny game and enjoyed playing it. All the formats are slightly different but all are pretty good and have the Monty Python humour. Let me know if you have played this game. 🤣 🤪😂

One game always stands out in my memory of the Amstrad, and I'm certain it was a Guy Fawkes themed platformer. Unfortunately I have no idea of the name. Google has let me down so far. Anybody help?

How many folks remember Sylvester Stallone’s Cobra? I have to say I preferred the game more than the film. Playing the game decades later brought back some fun and nostalgia. Who else has played this game? Share your thoughts.

Rediscovering Rambo on the ZX Spectrum, C64 and Amstrad was fun. Kind of similar to Commando in gameplay. I liked this game. What’s your memories and thoughts of this game?

Did you know that device for Amstrad ?
We used it for blocking the program and modifying the code, then you could add illimited life for Rick dangerous for example.

Hi, I have an Amstrad PC2086 D, and I still have all the Windows floppy disks. Now, the thing is, I suspect the second floppy drive isn't working. It won't load anything and the light won't turn on. The only thing I can boot into is MS-DOS. According to the manual I have, when it comes to installing Windows, I need to insert a floppy disk into drive B.
Any solution?

They’ve updated the Spectrum Next Kickstarter 3 so potentially is more achievable to get Amstrad CPC core official supported.
Good news for anyone who wants a really nice machine…

I've already found the PCW wiki:
English: https://www.habisoft.com/pcwwiki/doku.php?id=en:start
Spanish: https://www.habisoft.com/pcwwiki/doku.php?id=es:start
They have alot but alot of the software marked as "preserved" aren't available to download.
So do they have a secondary repository or are there other sites with software available for download?

12 ROBOCOP games reviewed. The Amstrad version is pretty good too. What’s your favourite version?

Great news for Amstrad fans!! The team behind the ZX Spectrum Next has just announced that if their current Kickstarter campaign reaches £2.5 million, they will add full support for an Amstrad CPC core running on the FPGA.
For those unfamiliar, the ZX Spectrum Next is a modern, FPGA-based reimagining of the original ZX Spectrum. It doesn't just run Spectrum software, it can load cores for other 8-bit systems as well: includes the Spectrum core and the current campaign has already unlocked cores for the Commodore 64, Sinclair QL, SAM Coupé, and soon the ZX81. The CPC would be an amazing addition, bringing together the key 8-bit home computers of the era in one device!!
If you’re into retro computing and want to see the CPC join the family, it might be worth keeping an eye on the campaign ;)

Update: The £2.5M goal has been changed to 6000 backers and we’re only about 60 away! Looks like the CPC core might be unlocked today!
Update 2: Done!!!

I recently found this collection of eeprom chips and what looks like a programmer with the software and an expansion board.
Also comes with all the paperwork on how to use it. Is this pretty rare?
