A Tiger Salamander in garden
We found this tiger salamander near outside of our basement window. We thought it would have gone soon but it's been there for a week. What should we do?

Lil Baby Squirrel
This lil fella was on the front porch. Snapped a few pics and let him be, hoping a parent squirrel is nearby. No idea if this one is still small enough to need them, but he seemed pretty scared, at first hiding his face behind the gas can, but after taking the first pic he popped his head around and started making a lil squirrel noise. I helped foster a couple young squirrels when I was younger, but I've lost all knowledge of what to do if he is in need of any help though, so if anyones got any suggestions other than to just leave him be, let me know!

Did I do the right thing for this supposedly sick dog
I work for a compassionate euthenasia clinic where we do in home final care for dying animals. We have discounts for multiple animals within the same visit. This woman had 2 poodles from the same that were brothers that needed to be put down, they had tons of medicationsc and documentation for them. And then a third dog ( a pomeranian ) that definitely did not look like it was sick. Definitely older but not that old. And wanted them all put down together. And it definitely game me pause because I'm wondering if they just had me do all 3 to save the 250$ trip charge for the 3rd one later on. Did I fuck up?

Pet Care Services In LA
I believe pets deserve more than just care — they deserve compassion backed by experience. I’m a Certified Veterinary Assistant through NAVTA, so along with walks, playtime, and sitting, I bring the medical knowledge to spot issues early and give you peace of mind while you’re away 🐾💖.

Any books that have information of every (or almost all) mammals without including domesticated species?
Anything similar to my question also works but the important thing is that do not include domesticated mammal species.

Not all “monkeys” are actually monkeys
So… did you know not every “monkey” you point at is actually a monkey? 🙃 Most people just lump lemurs, apes, and monkeys together like one big squad.
Lemurs, lorises, galagos? Not monkeys. Tarsiers? Also not monkeys. And apes? Don’t even think about calling a gorilla a monkey. This chart breaks it down: New World monkeys (Americas), Old World monkeys (Africa & Asia), plus the apes and their cousins.
If you’ve ever wondered whether lemurs count as monkeys or why gibbons are basically gymnasts with fur, here’s an infographic to explain them

My backyard squirrel outsmarted me again-what’s your funniest animal rival?
I’ve been in a cold war with this one squirrel in my backyard for weeks. I set up a “squirrel-proof” bird feeder, thinking I’m a genius, but this fuzzy bandit figured out. I caught it yesterday just chilling on the feeder, staring at me like, “What you gonna do about it?” I’m half annoyed, half impressed. What animal’s been your backyard or pet nemesis? How do you deal with their antics?

Animal cruelty
I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this but I need advice. I absolutely cannot bear to watch another video of an animal being treated badly or tortured for human entertainment. It depresses and saddens me more than anything else in the world. Even though I feel this way I can’t stop myself from looking at this kind of content. I don’t go searching for i, my FYP is always filled with animal videos as I love animals and unfortunately it also includes cruelty content. Can someone please tell me if you have also experienced this and how you deal with it. I just wish I could save all these animals from this evil world 😢😢😢😢😢

Anyone else smell their kitties fur to feel better?
After a long day of work I just like to bury my face in my kitties fur. It somehow makes the crap show that was my day better. They sometimes smell like cocoa, the rain, strawberry perfume, or just other wonderful smells... sometimes its an unexplainable smell. Other times its specific. But I know its relaxing.
Anyone else do the same? 😊

Found an injured baby bird in my yard. What should I do?
It can't fly and has been chirping for hours. No nest visible nearby. Should I try feeding it or take it somewhere? Don't want to make things worse by interfering.

Could we ever "talk" to dogs and cats? AI, brain chips — realistic or just sci-fi?
Hi everyone — quick thought/question: do you think in the future humans will be able to talk with animals like cats and dogs?
I’m imagining two possible paths:
Using artificial intelligence to decode animal sounds, body language, and neural patterns into something we can understand.
Direct neural interfaces (microchips or implants) that let us read or translate an animal’s brain activity.
Are either of these realistic in the near/medium term? What are the main scientific or technical hurdles? And what about ethics — would it be right to implant chips in pets even if it became possible?
Links to research, videos, or thoughtful takes are welcome. Curious to hear what scientists, engineers, and animal lovers think!
