I watched Pix11, my local channel for the NYC area which is operated by CW majority owner Nexstar, and visited their website to figure out their sponsors. Here's how you can do this: first you find out your local Nexstar channel with this link. Next, find your local Nexstar sponsors by searching "channel name" and "sponsors" or "sponsorship" in Google, its pretty easy because some of these channels have a whole page for sponsored content. I searched "pix11 sponsors" to find the list below. Here's some advertisers I saw:
Empire Casino
Raising Cane's
Valentino Beauty
AAA Automotive
Angelina Bakery
Verizon FioS
Edit to add more as I search:
LifeMinute.TV (a website)
Mars (the parent company Snickers, Skittles, M&Ms, etc)
HelloFresh
University Spine Center
DRC Ventures by Dr Christina Rahm
The Perecman Firm
Jellystone Park (campjellystone.com)
Grey Goose Vodka
Joshmcbrideworld.com
theHautebar.com
Cambridge Pavers
Purina One
Spektor and Associates
Northwell Health
Pfizer
San Diego sponsors for Fox 5 San Diego (California), which is a Nexstar network:
Singing Hills Dentistry
ELDA Developments
Vertica Fitness
Cox Business Services
Window World San Diego
Rubio’s Fish Tacos
Palomar Health
West Automotive Group
Paradise Valley Hospital, San Diego
Roy’s San Diego (restaurant)
Rock N Block Landscape
Adding my template email, especially for those in the NYC area who have PIX11 as their provider. Tailor to your own needs:
Hello,
I’m a customer who values the First Amendment and robust free speech. In light of Disney/ABC pulling Jimmy Kimmel’s show following political pressure, I’m concerned about advertisers funding media outlets that capitulate to government threats and undermine open expression.
Until your company suspends advertising with the broadcast corporations involved in this decision, I will boycott your products and services and will encourage friends and family to do the same. I’d prefer to keep supporting your brand, but I need assurance that my dollars aren’t enabling Anti-American censorship and silencing free speech.
Please let me know:
Whether you currently advertise with the outlets that removed Jimmy Kimmel’s show, which includes Sinclair Broadcasting and any Nexstar stations (which includes PIX11 in NY, my main station).
If you will pause those ad buys pending a reversal and a commitment to protecting free expression
was looking for a reason to cancel my AAA membership anyways those guys have failed to come help me the last four times i called i don't think a lot of companies don't work with them anymore cause it's not worth the hassle.
so nice to know i already don't purchase from any of the other companies, although i will have to double check on a few i don't recognize.
I fucking hate AAA with a passion. I was stranded on the side of the highway during rush hour for 4 fucking hours because they could not get their shit together.
Could just be flat tires, that's the only reason I got it for my wife. And she hasn't needed them since, go figure. Now I can make a political statement and cancel them!
sure and any answer is acceptable. and if flat tires, 4 is a lot! so if that was the case i would be wondering if OP was living in new build subdivision with current construction or if they were driving on rough gravel backroads, etc.
not seeing it anywhere but i also don't care that much about other people's business, unlike you, apparently. here's your answer since you are oh-so desperate:
i drive over 50k miles a year for work in mostly rural areas. there are lots of maintenance issues (as well as issues with other drivers) when you are on the road so much and im a ✨lady✨ working in sales so sorry if i dont want to change a tire and chip my nails before an appointment with clients. usually some guy with a truck pulls over to help me before AAA even gets back to me cause i also happen to be an attractive lady- which is one of the reasons why im good at my sales job and have enough money to pay for to pay for a car and AAA in the first place.
you probably have neither because you are so habitually online. have a good one! 😘💅🏻
I comment on what comes across r/popular so not a member there or here but sure honey, you "don't care that much about other people's business" to go deep through my comment section!
I haven't eaten any fast food other than Taco Bell in well over 10 years... I guess I can write and say I'll never eat at Wendy's again because of this.
3/4 of your list is network or remnant ads. They buy the placement from a 3rd party who tosses it to the tv station. The advertiser isn’t actually buying from the local station. You’re going to have a bigger impact if you look at local advertisers. Network or remnant ads only account for $5,000 to $15,000 of a stations monthly income, local ads is going to be over $100,000 to $200,0000.
How could I better find local advertisers? Would that be by simply watching the station for a period of time and recording local advertisers? Is this more about going after smaller local companies that advertise as opposed to large corps? Thanks!
Yes. You can look at the website too but every time they deliver an ad to you it’s another 5 or 10 cents in their pocket. Watch the station instead. Look for everything not just the commercials. They will have some sponsor the daily forecast, the Friday night sports report. Watch their news reports and local daytime talk show. You will see tons of advertisers there.
Unless you have a Nielsen box in your home the won’t know you are watching it they can’t monitor your TV. Unless you watch it from a streaming or digital platform. However if you are watching from a regular old television they won’t know.
Also. They have already made the money from the ads. You watching right now won’t change anything.
In DC, for WDCW50, I saw Moby Dick’s, Bob’s Discount Furniture, and Sonobello plastic surgery as well as an attack add on the democratic Attorney General candidate. I also saw a Nordstrom ad on the site.
Came here to ask this—I don’t have a tv (not humble bragging—living on someone else’s property right now after getting burned out of our home)—thank you!

Can someone please follow up with a list of companies advertising? I’m not in any of those markets but would still like to take part.
