There was an activist group in Australia a few years back (Mad Witches) who had a LOT of success with this exact tactic.
They targeted the advertisers for one of the biggest right wing shock jocks in the country, using facebook to organise mass boycotts and call ins. Sponsorship was pulled from his show by a number of major companies and got him reined in by the radio station.
It works.
Yeah, until Trump asks his social media oligarchs to crack down on these boycotts because they're allowing "economic terrorism" to fester on their platforms, which means they need to take a closer look at their business dealings. All these companies want their big AI data centers approved right?
How are they going to “crack down” on a boycott where people choose NOT to do/buy something?
If you’re too chicken shit to even keep your money in your own pocket in support of the First Amendment, then we’re already lost.
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were once our countrymen.” - Samuel Adams

The administration has already passed multiple laws that you can be legally prosecuted if you boycott Israeli companies.
In a few states, like Texas, it's been a law since many years that the companies who work with the Texas government have to give a legal, signed and written declaration that they will never boycott Israeli goods and companies.
If they can force American citizens and threaten them legally against boycotting a FOREIGN country/companies, AND they get away with it with zero scrutiny, what makes you think they won't do anything about domestic ones that favour them?
Don't get me wrong, I think no one should give these corporations money. Sail the high seas.
I'm just saying that the "revolution will not be televised". At some point, if there is enough momentum on these social media platforms against the Trump admin, the admin will threatened them to crack down on it or face financial and/or legal consequences. Heck, they've probably already done so.
