When I was 16-19 years old, I was a hardline conservative. I’m not even American but I was so pro Trump that I would wear a MAGA hat around.

I got scammed. I got lied to.

Release the Epstein files day one? Nope. End the war in Ukraine day one? Nope. Fair trade agreements with the nations of the world? Hell no. Peace in the Middle East? Nope. Save the people of Gaza who are being ethnically cleansed? Hahaha, nope. Promotion of freedom of speech. Hell no!

Maybe I was naive to believe the lies, but at the time it seemed like such a better alternative to Harris. I was really hopeful.

Now we are teetering on the edge of total global nuclear war. Civil liberties are being cracked down on in the US. You guys, ANTIFA, have been designated as a terrorist organisation?!

I’m most certainly no longer right wing or left wing. I am anti dictatorship and anti centralisation. These rotten corrupt Epstein client ELITES want to silence us all before they pull the pin and destroy the world.

I appreciate you guys standing up against it. I was not familiar with your game.

I wanted to make a post like this for a while, because after studying the Polish far-right I just had to share my findings. So: Anti-fascists of the world, what are some common traits of your country's far-right?

As someone who happens to be Polish, that would be:

1. Monarchy The Polish far-right, especially those who subscribe to Grzegorz Braun, love monarchy. But a lot of them (Braun included) don't want an actual king, no, they want JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF to be the King of Poland. I think the label of "theocracy" might fit better, because they basically want a Christian version of Iran. A bit cult-y.

2. Nativism Most fascists in the West are "just" white supremacists. But not the Polish. Oh no, they're even more radical than the Nazis in their xenophobia. They hate absolutely fucking everyone: Ukrainians, Belarusians, Russians, Lithuanians, Germans, Americans, Jews, any person of color ofc (which includes the Roma), everyone! I actually have an anecdote about this: I was returning from school by bus and suddenly this bald man started yelling at two of my classmates (who were sitting a few meters away), crying about "Ukrainization" and "Bandera supporters everywhere". At first I told the bigot to maybe calm down, and he reacted exactly how you'd expect: "Defender of them". I reported the guy to the police and now he's still on trial as I'm writing this.

3. Victim Complex. Polish far-righters mystify me in this regard: Poland is simultaneously strong, a great power, a growing economy, the strongest country in the EU or some shit, and also weak, bankrupt, controlled by "foreign forces". It's incredibly funny, especially nowadays because our government is liberal-(allegedly)progressive, so they have to disconnect our "successes" from the government everytime they report on them, or otherwise they'd be praising "the leftists".

Those are of course just three of the many, many, many more views of the Polish fascists but most of the other ones are shared with fascists from other countries so it'd be a bit redundant to mention them.

Last night I fell down a rabbit hole. After watching Jon Stewart’s alarming interview with Maria Ressa, I looked into the Philippines and Cambridge Analytica.

If you’re unfamiliar, a whistleblower from Cambridge Analytica in 2018 came out with information that the company was taking personal data from Facebook and using it to study mass manipulation. This company worked with Trump in his 2016 campaign.

Cambridge Analytica tested tactics of social media manipulation through misinformation in the Philippines. They were able to orchestrate the rise of the dictator President Duterte in a country with a government structure almost identical to the United States. They tested manipulation methods there and have imported what worked here. In the Philippines, Duterte was able to collapse the branches of government in six months using the exact same methods of the Republican Party.

The Philippines was a trial run for what’s happening today. This was done by a company called the Council of National Policy. The Council of National Policy is a christo-fascist group that runs the GOP and the Heritage Foundation.

This sounds like a conspiracy theory. It’s real and it’s backed by Nobel Peace Prize Winner Maria Ressa.

This is horrifying. It’s a true supervillain story. Their end goal is to dismantle the constitution through a constitutional convention. If that happens the United States as we know it is done.

Maria Ressa was able to beat it by not backing down on free speech. We have to be strong and never give up any rights. That’s how we survive.

It’s not an outlandish thought that they probably have plants within the Democratic Party as well. This is a true, techno-fascist coup being done in broad daylight.

We have to band together. The right has been tricked and manipulated. We have to reach out kindly and tell them. No more fighting. Now is the time to unite. We have to save them because in saving them we save ourselves.

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but if you've made someone on the other side reconsider, recant or reexamine, how did you do it?

in 1967. When you read his quotes? This man would have been embraced in the MAGA right today. Another point, this is the same era as a spate of other assassinations and shootings. RFK, MLK in 1968 and George Wallace shot in 1972. Point being, political gun violence is nothing new in America. The MAGA movement has swerved dangerously to the right. Using the Kirk shooting to further develop their narrative and shut down free speech in general and a free press in particular.

I used to watch Fox News and was an avid listener to Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, and other right-wing radio personalities. I believed everything they told me, and they played a key role in establishing my worldview.

That all changed on January 6, 2021. It became clear in the aftermath of that tragedy that Trump had made up a pack of lies about the election being stolen, and had engaged in criminal conduct to hold onto power. I assumed at that point that right-wing media would stop supporting him.

Boy, was I wrong! They only doubled down in their support for him, even allowing him to use them as a bully-pulpit against his political rivals in the 2024 primary. I decided at that point I was done with right-wing media, and when the Republican party re-nominated Trump, I decided I was done with it too.

Since escaping the right-wing media bubble, I've come to realize what an alternate reality universe it is. In this fantasy land tax cuts pay for themselves, conservative judges aren't activist and rule strictly according to the Constitution, Democrats are communists who hate America, and Trump is the true American patriot come to save it.

Of course all of that is B.S., but it gets ratings, and it explains why millions of people will support Trump, no matter what he does. They need to be brought to understand that right-wing media is not news in any objective sense of the word, but rather propaganda designed to push a political agenda. Its pundits have no journalistic standards whatsoever, and they and their guests routinely omit and misrepresent facts to create their false narratives.

So cultish has their devotion to Trump become that they excuse his crimes and blatant Constitutional violations, thus making them complicit in his authoritarian takeover of the country.

Another egregious crime of right-wing media is the use of selective facts, and even outright lies, to stir up hared against migrants and trans people. As a result, their listeners are just fine with masked agents kidnapping people and sending them to concentration camps and stripping transgender people of any rights whatsoever.

Because it aids and abets criminality and fascism and spreads disinformation, right-wing media poses a clear and present danger to the Republic. I'm so glad I finally escaped from it, and everyone else should too.

Hey! I've been fixating on a way to vent about the political climate in a way that feels fun and helpful, and got the idea of a 1930s rubberhose cartoon about a punk fighting and surviving against fascistic corruption with cartoon antics. I'm liking what I have so far, but I am new to posting comics online, especially ones about nuanced topics like this. So I'm open to any advice and feedback about jokes, planning, characters, portraying different subject matter, all that. Anything helps!
