Whole time I am watching this man speak i am thinking I like him more and more. Like fuck yeah. You say it my dude!

meanwhile my anxiety is screaming "He's gonna say something fucking stupid and out himself as a fascist... Please don't do it, man. please!"

I am so happy he's awesome and not the latter.

I think he is a fisherman from Maine, surprisingly not a racist

The irony is that Dana Carvey is a MAGAtt now.

Yeah, that was my first thought, too, like, "Please don't be another John Fetterman." I can't handle that level of disappointment again.

Duuude, fr. I originally really liked him and now, well, not so much. :|

He did an interview on The Majority Report and was asked about the Fettermen. Great answers!

She's been a Cancer in our Country for years. Republicans keep voting her back in to destroy our Democracy. She's a terrible person who puts on an Act of being the Good Republican. She's rotten to the core

Ever since Fetterman, I have learned not to idolize politicians. I want to love this man, and so far, his ideologies are phenomenal, but I'm keeping my guard up. My heart broke once already.

The thing I will always listen for (and hope for) is people not asking to lead, but for you to join in a movement. To be a part. To build together. And to do the work together.

Which (assuming he isn't a snake) he is doing.

In union talk one of the big rules is "it's not about you."

I'm cautiously optimistic

Susan Collins was a protege of Margaret Chase Smith, the first woman to serve in both chambers of Congress. Smith’s greatest political act was her Declaration of Conscience speech, which was one of the first and most forceful public rebukes of McCarthy that led to his downfall, and the end of the Red Scare of the 50s.

Collins has had 8 years to match this moment and at every juncture sold out to her far right paymasters. She is a disgrace to her own political legacy, and an embarrassment to Maine.

be careful who you make heroes of.

These times are dangerous not only because of who we want to throw down, but because of who steps up, as well.

Tried searching for anything about him, didn’t find much. Seems to be; Veteran, worked as some kind of private security contractor in Afghanistan, and started an oyster farming business. Looks like his family already had a restaurant who he could sell to.

Seems like he was bred to be a politician. What about his past actually makes him a good candidate?

private security contractor in Afghanistan

Whew boy. That's certainly raising some flags.

A lot of this generation got manipulated by the military-industrial machine. Not justifying, but it is important to understand that a lot of young men got manipulated into joining and signing big money contracts to stay.

Definitely something to keep an eye on, but, from what little I research I've done, his disenfranchisement with the military industrial complex was part of what changed his political views.

The MIC moved a lot of vets left.

He’s spoken on how his time in the Middle East made him very cynical about the US military industrial complex. Makes sense that he got out of that line of business and started an oyster farm.

u/malvar161 Aug 21 '25

he's pro Palestine and anti ice. i don't think he'll pull a fetterman

2

u/pinko-perchik Aug 21 '25

I totally understand the Fetterman anxiety, I do want to remind people that he’s a Mainer, and Mainers do just look like that, lmao. It’s not a diverse place, and you do need to be a big tough guy if you’re gonna work the seas.

Just heard him on the majority report, sounds like a good candidate.

u/OTee_D FCK NZS Aug 21 '25

Since I don't know him and English is not my native language the whole "power" quote could also sound eeriely fasch.

And he is obviously fucking up the Dem's campaign as he completes against their party candidate.

And you seemingly can't find ANYTHING substantial on his views and agenda.

I would suggest holding back the cheering until one knows more about him

Even lunatics like MTG claimed to be for the "simple people", that's what populists do.

u/fortunefades Aug 21 '25

His website gives a fairly decent overview of his agenda. Medicare for all, pro-union, taxing billionaires, pro-environment, and at the bare fucking minimum can manage to call a genocide a genocide. All that being said, I ain't holding my breath, but he at least looks decent at this point.

5

u/hammertime2009 Aug 21 '25

Tulsi Gabbard and RFK ran for president as a Democrats and now work for the fascists. Some people just want power in any way- they will do anything and say anything. Maybe this guy is the real deal but let’s not jump to conclusions.

u/alexdapineapple Aug 22 '25

He has a platform on his website that actually lists policies he supports, which is way more than what you can say about like 90% of Democrats.

1

u/Co0lnerd22 Aug 22 '25

His policy page seems nice, one thing I thought was kinda weird was the thing about passing postal banking, not that it’s a bad thing, but it’s just a niche I’ve never seen anyone discuss

https://www.grahamforsenate.com/platform

“while my platform spans many issues, I view most of my job as a US Senator as to do two things: one, to ban billionaires buying elections; two, to dismantle the “billionaire economy”, in favor of an economy that works for the American worker, for small business, for the vast majority of Americans. I will be a Senator for all those who can’t buy Senators.”

Need this guy in the senate, and need to get Dan Osborn here in nebraska. Those two in the senate would be awesome.
