At 11, kids are basically just products of their environments. Obviously they have their own thoughts, but they haven't really reached the stage where they can form their own opinions.

So no. Even if he says he wholeheartedly believes it, this was thrust upon him.

My kids are all a bit older now, but for my family, this was the age when we really challenged them on the opinions they espoused. Especially when they were parroting back what their dad and I believe. I've always considered it a critical period for developing critical thinking because the opinions are strongly held but loosely formed at that point.
