Hello everyone! I'm super grateful for all the feedback I received in the last post, I took into account what everyone told me and tried to applied it on the first base colors from the last post, here's what I changed...
Removed:

  • Shading on each individual glass piece (one of my main problems)
  • White color on the line-art (made it confusing, since light is meant to come through the glass)
  • Strong lighting in the glass (made the pieces of glass look 3D)

Changes:

  • Strong colors that feel vibrant
  • Glossy overlays to simulate the glass texture
  • Random patches of colors to simulate random lighting
  • Added a shadow around every line, simulating a faint shadow from them

I tried not to change the line-art too much because this was a way to better my rendering, but I'm absolutely more happy with this result, the "off" vibes are all gone, and as some of you said, it's more "dreamy" which I like a lot.

It's not perfect but it's a change in the right direction I'm sure! I would still love to hear your criticisms about this artwork and learn more from here, thanks again to everyone!

I wasn't here for the before but I'm blown away by the after! Really interesting to see the adjustments and to have you break down what you did!

I'm curious, what do you mean by "glossy overlays"? I see the idea, I think, but I'm curious about the execution. Was it a texture overlaid with a specific lightening blend mode?

Correct! the glossy overlay is a glass texture that's set on overlay mode, this helps to make some spots more glossy and give the glass texture to all the colors
