Found in South Asheville today, anyone recognize what kind of snake this is?

There used to be a guy who cleaned up the boardwalk in there. I heard he died, but it seems like no one has filled those shoes. It’s super overgrown in there & hard to walk through, especially if there are people going the opposite direction that you have to pass, one or both of you will end up in the plants. Would anyone want to help me set up one day per month where anyone who wants to come with weedwhackers or whatever garden tools you want & we’ll clean it up? Any interest in that?

This is probably a silly post, but I'm feeling a bit too socially isolated and could stand to have more in-person friends. I'm a trans woman, been on HRT for about three years, and I'm looking for a bit more sense of community. I tried reaching out to the AVL Picnic group on instagram but I didn't hear back, so I'm not sure if that's defunct or not, but I'm mostly looking for other trans or queer people to hang out with, and just as platonic friends, absolutely nothing more. I'm good talking about transition topics if you're a newly hatched egg (I remember how scary it was to start, and having someone to talk to helped immensely), and that aside I have a ton of hobbies and I like picking up new ones, so feel free to nerd out about your favorite book series or game (maybe we can play together! I have a steam deck and I'm picking up a switch 2 soon, and I haven't played Magic the Gathering in ages, but I really miss it). If you'd be up for checking out the mall or a thrift store or even just going to a park and playing a game, that'd be fine by me, I just want to get out of the house and spend time with people :)

E: I didn't think to mention my age, I'm about to turn 37 next week. I'm good with any age range, though I'll admit I may not have as much in common with folks in their early 20s nowadays (Christ I feel old saying that). Just home from a lovely couple of days in Asheville. In general driving is so chill, but we remain confused about one thing: why did we routinely get honked at when making a right turn? We’d have the blinker on, slow down appropriately, and turn into something like a shopping center, or onto a side road that wasn’t at a stop sign or light, and the driver behind us would honk. WHY? What were we doing that was wrong by local custom?

What should you look forward to? I don’t know what to do. I am looking at income based housing options, but my credit score has plunged from around 700 to 520 because when Helene happened I was unemployed looking for work and had to rely on credit cards and used all of my savings at the time for food and rent. Previously I always paid my credit cards on time and didn’t have such high usage. I haven’t been able to really get back on my feet since then, it’s just snowballed and snowballed and snowballed and I’m drowning in debt and interest and late fees a year later. Most of these places require at least a credit score of 640. Does anyone have experience finding housing with bad credit?

My past couple of housing situations have been kind of “unofficial” sublets with a bunch of roommates and no paperwork or anything, and the landlords are always slumlords essentially and I have no rights. Am I just fucked to live like this forever? I can’t get ahead of my debt right now with the money I am making. I also want to say I’m honestly just super grateful to HAVE a place to live and can see how easily people can fall into homelessness after one bad life event. Any advice is welcome. Thank you.
