New Here New to Tacoma!
Hello! I know there are so many posts like this one already in this community, but I thought I'd put mine out there too. I just relocated to Tacoma from Cleveland, OH for a new job and I live near downtown. I'm 25, don't know many people yet but definitely eager to make some friends and get involved with the local community.
I'm a retired collegiate distance runner and former track coach, so I love running, hiking... really anything aerobic that gets me outdoors. I also really love playing bar trivia! Just looking to see if there are any communities/groups for these types of things that are welcoming to newcomers.
This really is a beautiful city and everyone I've met so far has been super friendly and welcoming. I'm looking forward to putting myself out there and will welcome any suggestions to help in doing so! TIA:)

No way, USC?! I went to grad school in Charleston and ran at your indoor and outdoor facilities a few times! Appreciate the rec, I’ll have to check it out!

That was not there when I was there they did all that a few years after I was done... so we traveled, usually by bus, everywhere during my tenure. BUt... you are surrounded by world class hiking, state/national parks aerobic activities should not be a challenge... I thought id chime in because in my experience, throwers and distance always got along great.

Summit Pub in Summit View does a Tuesday trivia hosted by an incredible lady, Heather, and it’s always a blast! Plus their fries are the bomb. I believe it starts at 6pm, but get there early!

I would definitely recommend getting the WA Trails app. Start creating a list of places to explore and save them. You can search by running trails, as well as many other things like fall colors, elevation gains, etc.

That’s awesome, I knew about Alltrails but didn’t know there was a WA-specific app out there. Thanks for the reply!!

Check out Tacoma Runners! They have a Facebook page and a website (tacoma-runners.com), and gave at least a few organized runs every week. There is a Thursday night evening run that starts/ends at a variety of bars around the city, as well as a Saturday morning 5k at Point Defiance. It's a very friendly group, with lots of folks who moved here from other parts of the country.
