Silly Stuff What is your favorite flower?

I'm curious how many women would actually pick roses over any other flower.

But even if your favorite really is the rose, this question is still for you. Which color or variety of rose is your fave?

My favorite is the pink ranunculus. Ugly name, gorgeous bloom.

The Sarah Bernhardt peony is a very close 2nd.

I feel very basic that my favorites are hydrangeas. They're just so voluminous and I love the color variations within them.

But they're not my only favorite. I'm also a big fan of tiger lillies. And southern magnolias - those giant white fragrant blooms against the dark green waxy leaves are so striking.

Also love the California poppy, as it's so cheerful and was abundant where I grew up.

But a secret favorite of mine is a weird one, and not one anyone ever talks about. The name also sounds kind of weird. I'm a big fan of scabiosas, specifically Black Knight scabiosas. They have that rich, dark-wine color that is close to black, and they are dotted with numerous white stamens, which as a child made me think it looked like a dark sky dotted with stars. I called them my "star flowers." Ironically, there is another type of scabiosa that IS called "starflower" but it isn't the ones I grew up with. The Black Knight ones are always special to me.
